Some times when i try to start my bike. it will turn and not engage, i'll do it two or three times before it engages and starts

Clean n titen all ign connections. But a clymer shop manual. Batt cud b oldtoo. Do a complete inspection on cycle. Its bin neglected toolong

Could be the switch, the solenoid, or the starter. You would need to check for power at the starter post each time the key switch is in the start position. You can hook up a test light or a meter to watch it.

youv'e engaged the security check security fuses to disarm you'll need to go to your gm dealer to reset they have several proceedures usually with key in on position for three sets of ten minutes after each 10 minutes turn key off count to five turn key back on without cranking the engine do the three times after the third time turn off key count then try to start it should work

man are all yu born yesterday? put the ground anywhere? a tenth grade education will tell yu that...push it dummy..serves yu right..if yu have no idea what a ground cable is, why the heck would you even touch the motor yourself?

1-the reason might be the battary is discharged or it case might be not healthy
2- plz check the electrical generator and the rectification circuit

I'm not going to tell you that what I'm about to say is going to solve your problems but it sounds like the starter motor is starting to spin before the jackshaft (pinion gear) is engaged with the ring gear. On the backside of your starter is a 5-sided plate held on by three 3mm screws. Remove this plate and you'll see the solenoid plunger and spring behind it. You can take these out. You'll see two large copper contacts in the solenoid. If these contacts are not flat but turned a bit, the plunger will make contact and start the starter motor spinning before the jackshaft is all the way out and engaged fully with the ring gear. Disconnect the battery and then loosen the nut that holds the battery cable to the starter solenoid. Push back on the copper contact strip until it's flat against the backside of the solenoid. Do the same with the contact that goes to the starter motor. Replace the plunger and spring and the end plate. Reconnect the battery. Maybe this will help but it is a long shot. The only other thing that I can think of is a misalignment of the outer primary cover causing a bind in the jackshaft and preventing it from coming out and engaging the ring gear properly.

The starter button when pushed in half way turns the power off to the lights so more electricity can be used for powering the ignition and starter at the same time. If you press lightly you can turn off the lights with out engaging the starter. Pressing all the way down engages the starter. The button is a two position switch. Carefully take it apart , clean it and put it back together and you may fix the problem.I have three old Honda motorcycles that all have right hand switch assemblies wired to them from other bikes (Because the original was no longer available) You should be able to rewire any Honda two cable switch too work on your bike.

Check clutch adjustment for proper engaging & de-engagement. If adjustment nut near the clutch lever try adjusting by turning.

When you discovered your battery was kaput, you were probably trying to start your bike at the time. I have seen on rare occasions that when this happens, the starter solenoid gets "stuck" in the "engaged" positon. Try rocking your bike backwards and forwards a few times with the transmission in high gear. Rock the bike while shifting the tranny until you get it into high gear. The with the clutch out, rock the bike and turn the engine over a few times. Shift the bike back down to neutral and try to connect the battery. Rocking the bike while in gear rotates the outer clutch drum. If the starter jack shaft is still engaged with the ring gear on the outer clutch drum, rocking the bike a bit will turn the drum allowing the spring in the starter to pull the jack shaft and starter gear back out of engagement.
