I am not sure if any preload is applied to the prod when restringing, but the Barnett is a popular crossbow and they are sold and serviced by a great many serious hunting, shooting and fishing shops and suppliers as well as a few sports outlets. You should have no trouble finding spares and information.

What model s the whole set

If the engine is performing as expected ,the problem may be a loose exhaust manifold/exhaust muffler where the gasket has broken down allowing exhaust gas to escape and be a bit noisy. Replacing the gasket before the manifold/ muffler rusts to badly should be the answer

There are still some factory farings upper and lowers available online through outside sources. Be aware though they are very pricey

Could be an air leak or seal problem with the fuel tank. One fuel line goes to the carb, the other line that goes from the exhaust pipe to the fuel tank pressurizing the fuel tank so that fuel will be forced to the carb. I would check the fuel lines and tank for leaks. The tank can leak air around the lid or a seam in the tank itself. I would also check any inline fuel filters for blockages or leaks also.
