Crf honda's run titanium valves which wear out very quickly if valve clearances not checked very regularly. what happens is the valve wears on its sealing face and clearances close up and then valve rides and looses compression, much like a leaking tap. bike will make more compression and valves will try to seal when warm. i probably rebuild one of these bikes a week with this problem. get it to your dealer and have clearances done. you can get stainless steel valve conversion kits which are much cheaper than honda titanium valves.

I have a real hard time getting the bike started. When its cold i can kick it...but once it dies out I cannot rekick it I have to pop start it. Its also very choppy does not run smoothly.

Many of those CRF have problems with the valves, check the valve clearances, as well as all the general maintenance items, clean carb, clean air filter, new plug.
If the clearances need more than one number smaller on the shims, it may be the start of valve regression.

04 crf450.hard start when cold(25deg).kick for 10min.once it

1. First thing is when was the last time you had your valves adjusted
2. On cold start up twist about 15 times on your throttle, as you do that the accelerator pump in carb will shot gas in cylinder, I have a 2003 yx426 & 2005 yz450 have to do to both of them when cold out to get started

Same problem hard to start using kick start

sounds right, but shims dont really wear the valve sits in or the lobe wears, hence the need for re-shimming

May be a decompression problem. What gear do you use when you pull it?

Crf 450 front preload adjustment

Hi ...... Any preload and/or damping will be adjustable from the top of the forks (even upside down forks). Anti-clockwise to reduce, clockwise to increase. You may find that a previous owner has increased the 'weight' of fork oil as a cheap/easy alternative to adjustment or aftermarket linear or progressive springs.
