What is normal rpm at idle on my 1992 cbr 600

I have a few questions for you. 1. Have you owned the bike since it was new? 2. Have you been able to rev beyond 3500 rpm prior?

normal charge should be 12v - 15v if it is above that then replace regulator

It's positioned under the tank, above the carb rail.

Battery is located under the seat of the motorbike
Remove the plastic fairings for the bike to access the screws under seat to remove seat fully.

it will do that, it is normal, should go between about 600 and 1500 rpm...
----------- thats just a normal warm up cycle, it will change the engine speed and mixture as combustion gets better with the heat.

The problem is in the idle air control motor. It is mounted on the throttle body with two bolts, you can pull it off and make sure it is not caked with carbon also check where it mounts on the throttle body and make sure it is not caked with carbon.

You have air leaks in the intake that are causing the bike to run lean and idle fast. Normally the leaks are in the rubber insulator connecting the carb and manifold. The rubber gets hard and cracks. Sounds like you were adjusting the idle mix screw on the carburetor. I think www.bikebandit.com has OEM parts, with diagrams. Also, there are many forums for different motorcycles and their owners on the internet, I would try a Google search for the right forum for your bike. Good Luck!
