I have a diagram of the oil line routing for a Shovelhead. I cannot send it to you via this forum because it has no means of sending an "attachment". If you'll contact me directly at [email protected] I will send you a copy of the drawing in a jpeg file attachment. Remind me of what you need as I get lots of request for various information.

Good Luck
steve

How hard is it to pull kicker side cover off.1975 shovel head.need to get at inside of cover behind kicker?

Not difficult at all. Just drain the oil and probably remove the exhaust pipes as they are probably in the way. Then take all the bolts out from around the kicker cover and remove the end cover. Leave the kicker installed so that you can get it back right when you put it back on. Make sure that you've got enough tension on the return spring when reinstalling. Don't forget to add the oil. 20-24 ounces.

Now, if you're going to attempt to replace the "clutch gear", you may need a special puller to get it off the shaft with. It's on a taper and sometimes they're a bear to get off even with the correct puller.

Good Luck,
Steve

My 1980 Harley FLT shovel head is making louder then normal sounds and seams to get hot. I think maybe oil pump?

Shovel head lifters tend to wear out. Check your adjustment first. Shovels also run on the warm side. Does it idle good? If not, check for intake leaks.
