I get a disturbing noise (clang-clang) sometimes when rollin in neutral,sometimes releasing the clutch in 2nd gear at low rpm,sometimes all the time.It mostly seems to come from low behind.Chain is in good condition,and i had the rear wheel bearings changed ANd it gets worse when it rains! really. other than that the bike runs fine. please help!

It could be the differential gear

That coould be the release bearing that's sticky on the spicket shaft

Your diagnosis could be correct though few vehicles these days have an adjustable clutch.

A loud clang isn't a noise commonly associated with clutch problems.

I advise you to take your car to an experienced person who would be happy to provide an almost instant diagnosis - this would be quicker and easier and save me a great deal of writing...

I take it that this is not stock exhaust, you mentio ed flex. If this is the case you will need to completely isolate the exhaust from all other components using rubber hangers. There can be NO contact with metal on metal, or you will get vibrations. Let me know if further assistance is needed.

bent selector fork on the gearbox, and that would be a full engine strip no doubt about it, any more use of it will cause a screwed gearbox and thats mega money!

get it to a mechanic or buy a haynes/clymer manual to help.

you are labouring the engine too much for the engine power ,you must keep teh RPM up it is a diesel and they will not develop power like a petrol engine at low RPM ,always pull away in first gear anyway or you will burn the clutch out in no time

If I've understood your problem correctly.....when changing from 1st gear into second the box is giving a metal on metal crunching sound?

• This would be the syncromesh ring which is not equalizing the speed correctly.
• The problem usually happens when there is wear on the same part.
• Check to make sure that the correct transmission fluid has been used in the box.
• To alleviate the problem and delay the time when it will require attention, use the double de- clutch method of changing gears, especially when the transmission is cold.
• The double de-clutch is carried out in the following way.

1. When in gear and changing from 1st gear to 2nd, change into neutral and release the clutch and then depress again before selecting 2nd gear....It is not required to rev the engine in the neutral position when changing up....
2. When changing down rev the engine when the shift lever is in neutral for each change.

You'll soon get the hang of it and stop the crunching sound, protecting the box at the same time....

I've never heard of a heavy duty clutch spring making a noise. Without being able to hear the noise, It's difficult to say what you're hearing. I would suspect that the clutch might not be releasing as it should, the clutch is dragging. Here's the easy way to tell. Put the bike in low gear, hold the clutch lever in, and start the engine. If the bike tries to pull forward, the clutch is dragging.

Try adjusting your idle speed screw in neutral.

Check your throttle cable to make sure it's not being pulled while turning the forks.

Check your choke cable and make sure it's adjusted properly.

Almost sounds like a throwout bearing problem. Either way, bring the car back and make them fix it. It will be covered under the warranty so dont let them try to convince you otherwise.
