P1587 Throttle Control Unit Modulated Command Malfunction
Possible causes:
- Faulty Throttle Control Unit
- Throttle Control Unit harness is open or shorted
- Throttle Control Unit circuit poor electrical connection
From your symptoms it sounds like a damaged wire or connection. The ignition switch is a strong possibility. Take a look at the gauge cluster. Pay attention to the lights. When this "No Start" occurs, do you notice any lights flickering, flashing, or not coming on when it normally would? If there is anything else that you think of pertaining to recent repairs, symptoms, or tests that you have performed, please write back. Good luck.
in the rear lights you may have two bulbs one is the turn signal the other one is stop light / tail light the stop light / tail light has two filaments, one for the stop light (21 watt) & one for the tail light (5 watt) it is possible that the tail light filament is blown, try replacing the bulb to see if that fixes the problem, also check all the fuses as well.......hope this helps......cheers.
First replace the tail light bulbs. The tail light and brake lights are different filaments in the same bulb. it is very possible for the tail lights to go out while brake lights still work. And somtimes the tail lights can blow out together.
If you change the bulbs and still dont work then look for other problems.
there is a fuse in the fuse panel for the tail lights.check this out first as the tail lights are on a separate circuit from the other lights in the back.fuse panel is under the dash on the drivers side.there is also one under the hood.if the fuse is good its possible that there is a problem with the headlight switch on the tail light circuit side of the switch.if this is okay then its possible that there is a wiring problem from the switch to the tail lights but this rarely happens.
tail lights work on a different filament than the rest of the lights you mentioned, it is possible both bulbs are burned out for that filament. if not, check the fuses as the tail light circuit in some cars is on a seperate fuse. the remaining possibility could be bad socket contacts.
Tail lights or brake lights? If it is the brake lights the brake light switch is stuck shut. Replace it. If it is tail lights, then possibly the light switch is defective.
