SOURCE: '95 Yamaha YZ 125 clutch - stays in gear when clutch is pulled in

hey dude,, just thought id come in and give u some tips or 3,, i take it when u pull clutch lever in, and try and change gear it feels like your foot will snap b4 it goes in gear,, if that makes sense,, firstly mate,is to make sure the clutch cable slides freely ,easest way is to take cable off and just grab 1 end and make sure it isnt sticky,, if so dip one end of the cable in a bit of old oil ,,whilst holdin the other end ,pull and push the cable inner, this will **** up a bit of lubricant inside the cable ,, keep doin this each end till free to move, ,,next step if the cables ok,,, and may need help if u dont no,drain the oil out,,and as u r sat on the bike is to remove the clutch casing on the right hand side of the moter, where the bottom end of the cable goes, remove the casing being carefull not damage the gasket,,then u will see clutch plates and friction plates housed,, undo the 7 or 8 spring loaded bolts carefully take the first fibre plate out then metal friction plate then another fibre plate and so on,, wen u take the 1st plate out place that on the bench ,stacking each plate on top of one another, cause they have to go back in as they came out,,wen out,,u need a piece of wet n dry paper ,or fine emery,,and just wipe round both sides of the fibre plates taking the shine off them,as u put them back in,, put casing back on with a decent gasket,, oil back in cable on, make sure cable has no free play on the lever so wen u r about to pull lever in it bite straight away,, start her up, warm it up and try it,,any probs still il eat my shoe,, take care m8

SOURCE: engaging 1st gear the gear grinds an clunks into

This happens when the parts of gear box is not proper due to misalignment. hence service the gear box first.... also change the oil and all the ball bearings of the gear box ... lubricate every parts in gear box.

Drain and replace the gas with fresh.
Remove the air cleaner and spray carb cleaner into the inlet. Work your throttle a little then put everything back together and try to start it.

I assume the noise is a high piched grinding noise as thats the most common problem that I have seen on mid '80s yamaha bikes. If that doesn't describe your noise let me know, but if it does you may have a worn starter or.

Kickstarter is stuck 2003 Suzuki DR-Z 125 L

Rock the bike gently forward and back while shifting into fifth gear. Now push the bike forward while sitting on it and see if the rear tire turning will turn the motor. If not, your motor is stuck. If it turns, you have a kickstarter issue.
Many people never learned to depress the kickstarter down until you feel it engage before kicking it through. Kicking from the top slams the gear teeth together and causes damage. You may need to pull of the engine cover to determine if there’s damage.

My 125dt dosent sart or kick sart, the gear inside have a bushing in shafting?or it was broken..

Common cause of kickstarter not engaging(I am guesing that this is your problem) is a broken spring on the kickstart mechanism,or that the kickstart idler gear cerclip has fallen off(this allows the idler gear to move forward on the shaft & thus won't allow the kickstart gear to transfer drive to the clutch hub).Remove clutch cover, put kickstart lever back on shaft spline, activate kickstart lever by hand(easier with sparkplug removed+in neautral)as kickstart lever moves down 90 degrees the gear on the kickstarter mechanism should move out to engage with gear next to it(kickstart idler gear). If the gear on the kickstarter mechanism dosn't move outward it has a broken spring on the kickstart mechanism.replace spring and all should work.(if the spring is broken you need to try find the broken piece with a magnetic pick-up tool as the broken part can cause further damage if not removed)To do this job I highly recommend you first purchase a workshop manual which will guide you through these processes. After all a manual is the most valuable tool in your tool kit.

Got a 02' 125 ttr and it make a knocking noise in first gear? shifts fine and no other noise in other gears.

You have a broken tooth on the first gear set. This means two gears will need replaced; the drive gear and the driven gear in first gear range. DON'T just replace the gear with the broken tooth. Replace the gear it meshes with also.
