Try... High/Low/Reverse in Reverse then Engine running, in neutral, Foot brake on, then turn off engine, and try gearing down as everything spins down to a stop. Does it switch?

I have seen this on 2 mahines so far and hav to been able to figure out, yet.

Has been a while but a simple streched spring on a brake line stopped this old machine from going into reverse.

Yamaha Big Bear 400 is running rich, it runs good at high speed but loads up at idle. Not sure where the mixture screw is located on the carburetor? It's a Mikuni BSR33.

I have a Yamaha big bear 350 4x4 I put new cv axis on both front still make grinding sound

If the CV Joints are new and correctly inserted, the most likely culprit for the noise would be the brakes. Remove the front wheels and turn the hub.

It could also be the front differential, or failed wheel bearings. Details in the link.

Shifter moves on big bear 350 but quad wont reverse now it goes forwards

for some reason you are not getting into reverse , there is no real reason it should stay in forward gears unless there is someting wrong with the shifter itself being in the wrong position this can happen take it off and reposition it and make sure your clutch is disengauging to shift gears , will it go into all gears or just 1 forward , ck into that and be a little more specific on the problem ,good luck

I have a Yamaha 400 big bear and cooling fan won't

Start by checking the fuses... If they're fine the start tracing the wiring from the fan. Look for any burn marks, pinches, etc... If in doubt I'd recommend taking it to a professional. It's really easy to mess things up if your not sure what your doing
