At times my 08 Yamaha V-star 1100 Silverado will not start when it is hot. Once it does, it back fires black smoke and sputters and backfires for a short time while riding. Also when I have the choke is on it sputters and backfires...related issue? It only has approximately 1900 miles on it and has been doing it since much less mileage, but it is getting worse.

I have worked on motorcycles including this model for 9 years.What is wrong with your bike could be a bunch problems from which it could a faulty ignition coil or even a faulty sensor that could cause the engine to run rich which I know it is running rich because of the complaint of black smoke.
