If you change the engine oil you are doing the gear box as well. They share the same crank case and oil.

How to train how to drain transmission fluid out of 2001 Pontiac Azte?

1. Remove transmission oil pan (be careful oil will splash all over)
2. Remove all bolts slowly, so oil will drain slowly
3. Transmission oil pan gasket is reusable
4. Clean oil pan and let transmission oil drip then reinstall pan and gasket.(At the same time you can change the transmission oil filter.
5. Fill with transmission oil fluid (see specification) 4 liters Dexron4 fluid
6. Start the engine place transmission lever to park or neutral
7. At the same time remove plug (see pictures ) until fluid comes out the transmission plug hole. (replace the plug)

Hope it helps.

Transmission fluid is almost black

1st your sure your not looking at the motor oil instead (that color is not good on motor oil either) , but if your sure your looking at the transmission fluid then id say that trans has problems ! a fluid /filter change is the place to start , but if that's no good and trans still doesn't work well then a rebuild is the best way to eliminate any problems

How to change auto transmission fluid of ford everest

Just draining the fluid does not get the fluid out of the torque converter. Most service shops use a machine that replaces the fluid while the engine is running and uses the pump in the transmission to move clean fluid in while at the same time collects the old fluid. That is , by far, the best way to change ALL the fluid in the transmission

Transmission fluid

Transmission fluid should be checked with the engine warmed up and running in Park. The dipstick is always near the back of the engine bay, and is VERY long when you pull it out. Transmission fluid should be red. It should not be brown.
Changing transmission fluid is much more difficult than changing engine oil. Engine oil can be changed by removing a plug and draining it out. Transmission oil can only be changed by removing brackets, removing the pan (think of a shallow oven pan bolted to the bottom of the transmission) and letting all the fluid drain out. A transmission fluid change should ALWAYS include a new filter and gasket as well. This is one best left to a shop with the proper tools.

While i was doing off road driving a warnning light (a/t oil temp) turn on, i looked underneath the car and i found oil leak drop after drop, not too sure now should I change the transmition oil and filter...

Change the transmission fluid and filter. The light says fluid temp. is high, so you may have some burnt fluid-deadly for transmissions. Drop the trans. pan and look for metal shavings-too much will indicate failure of transmission parts. If not too much, you may be alright with fluid and filter change.
Stop the leak,. make sure it is trans. fluid, not motor oil. If motor oil, stop the leak and change oil and filter. I would do the transmission regardless, since the light came on.

I have a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe and I accidently put motor oil in the A/T oil spot. What should I do?

Don't run the engine at all. If it was started, the transmission pump will have pumped the motor oil all through the transmission-go have it professionally flushed. If the engine was not started, drop the transmission pan to drain the fluid, and get a new transmission filter. Put it back together and run the engine until the transmission fluid gets hot. Then change the fluid and filter again. After this, monitor the transmission fluid dipstick. If any traces of more motor oil in the pink fluid, do the drain and change filter a third time. (buy a case of transmission fluid-each drain and change will take about 6 quarts.)

What is the trans fluid service interval?

Hi,

This is the most overlooked service of vehicles today.

Due to the advanced technology in electronic transmissions, it is now more important than ever, to regularly change the trans fluid. Most auto transmission failures are a result of bad fluid or incorrect levels.

Whilst most manufacturers suggest fluid changes around 60 - 80,000miles, if you intend to keep the vehicle for a few years, then I strongly reccommend following the new standard of 30,000mile intervals.

This will involve flushing the transmission & cooler tank (with clean trans fluid), changing the trans oil filter and refilling with new fluid to the CORRECT level.

Use ONLY manufacturer's specified transmission fluid (not all fluids have the same properties).

NEVER overfill the transmission case.

Modern day electronic transmissions rely on good oil pressure to perform well. Regular trans oil changes will ensure this, as well as avoiding costly transmission repairs.

Cheers,
