Was fuel left in the carburetors when you parked it your metering jets might be slightly clogged with varnish i dont recomend opening them yourself take it to a professional and next time you park it for an extended period of time close the fuel valve and leave the bike running until the carbs run out of gas "the bike will stop running when this happens"

Canadian bike 1991 Yamaha fj1200,50,000kms. engine sputtering at all speeds. Bike can be ridden (barely). No throtle response when cranked full from cruising speed. Fuel tank was drained & checked for...

Chances are there is a water build up in the carb float bowls. The water comes from condensation in the gas tank. Try draining the carbs. Another possibility is carburetor main jets partially plugged up. You must clean the carbs if plugged jets are found to be the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_152.gif

START & AVERAGE PROBLEM- HONDA UNICORN

I think the age of the bike gives a clue to what might be wrong. I'm guessing that either the rubbers on the vacuum carb slides have gone bad or the intake manifolds are old and cracked, or both. At any rate they are worth a good check. Be very careful if you have to remove the carb rack there are some delicate and expensive fuel feeder tubes between the carbs that are easily broken.

1983 rg 250 gamma mk1 import would only run with choke on now wont start at all?

Hi,
Your plugs are probably dripping with an unburnt gas mixture/residue if you've ridden the bike any serious distance with the choke on.

Change your plugs, don't just clean them, Change Them...

Check your idle jet in your carb. Clean it, carefully.

Good Luck and Let me know...

2002 Dyna wide glide. Will not IDLE

not running for a year! You have a varnish buildup in the low end circuit of the carb. You will need to remove the carb and do a full teardown of the carb to properly rectify this problem. SOMETIMES we are able to free up the passages by putting SEA FOAM cleaner in the tank , fill her up with fresh fuel and ride through the tank and it will clear up. SEA FOAM can be purchased at an auto parts store and is sometimes very effective. 1/4 cup to full tank fuel.

Bike has been standing for 18 months without the engine being spun. Bike will not start without choke. when choke is off engine stalls

You need to completely drain and refill the gas - the gas you have is stale and doesn't have enough power to run the bike.
The battery needs to be fully charged - not just jump started. It wouldn't hurt to do an oil and filter change as well as a air filter and plug change.

2000 yzf R6 inconsistant idle under choke cuts out when punched

Yes. Sounds like main jets are blocked. Gas will start to varnish after a couple of months. This builds up over time and sticks the main jets. Go to this website and select discuss this bike.http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/yamaha_yzf-r6_2000.php

Wont run /idle

i'd start with removing the carbs and giving them a thorough cleaning as when bikes sit for so long, the carbs begin to get gummy/varnished from the old gas.

check for blocked holes in the pilot jet & main jet and look for "hard & dried up" gas in passages. be careful of the float bowl gasket as to not tear it or you will need a replacement.

Yamaha TTR 125 L won't idle

this is very tipical. when bikes are stored the fuel varishes up the jets & needles. soak the carb. moving it back and forth in the soak solution. then blow every jet and orfice with a controlled air source. note: any speck of rust or dirt can plug these jets. pay attention to detail and do every thing twice. then install the carb and adjust it to your riding style. later Spike
