2001 Pontiac Firebird Fuel vent vapour locked

You will need to have the fuel vapor storage control diagnosed to correct this. This is called the EVAP system and it controls gas vapors while fueling.

GAS SPIT OUT WHEN IM PUTTING IN THE TANK

There's an air return pipe that's supposed to prevent this. Look on the filler neck for a finger sized secondary pipe or hose. Make sure this is not damaged or otherwise blocked.

Spit back can also occur when the tank is nearly empty on hot days. The tank is full of gas vapour and this pressure has to go somewhere. Try adding gas slowly for a couple of seconds, then stopping. The added gas is colder and will cause the vapour to condense, after which you can usually add gas at normal speed.

My problem is a come and go thing. At times i can get no more than 50 mph when this has happened I have noticed when I remove the fuel cap theres is a lot of pressure released or it is air taken in. It is...

The tank breather is blocked.
The tank needs outside air to enter as the fuel is pumped out, if this is not happening, the tank is pulled into negative pressure and this will prevent the fuel from being drawn at the correct rate.
The tank vent is a pipe from the tank which is then usually attached to the chassis and nothing else. It may have some form of vapour lock on the end to prevent gas fumes from escaping and forming a fire risk. This is the pipe that is blocked or the vapour lock is blocked. Locate it and remove it to clean it but DONT leave the vapour lock off the pipe when you refit it..
Some fuel tanks are vented through the fuel cap and don't have this pipe so check and make sure that the correct cap is fitted. You can also drill a very small hole through the top of the cap which may allow air to enter the tank although this is not advisable as there would be no vapour lock.

Starting problems

You didn't mention the type of saw you had if it's even indeed a saw. I have found solutions for issues such as yours. First of all have you heard of vapour lock? Some smaller saws with the gas tanks in the front next to the cutter bar get extremely hot and when it runs out of gas and you refill it (let it cool down first), it may have a little vapour lock and sometimes vapour lock is hard to clear up. Give it full throttle with no choke on when you pull the starter rope. This may help. Also have someone qualified to test the ignition spark. Also, these smaller saws will run hot and the module breaks down. This is not a nice problem because there are so many factors affecting it to have this problem. Good luck with your unit.

Gas Milage

after a drz. 5000 km had to replace tp switch after a particularly wet ride .(coroded connection) love the bike only beef was the hard seat (now sorted ) and small fuel tank, i will order one from clarkes, only getting 80 km per tank.? Question 1 what do others get ? Question 2 is the original lean map tuneable ie for transport sections.,Yeah I get 80kms per tank in single track. I have a Clark tank coming for it. Keep the electrical connections clean and you will have no worries. Use an electrical grease or Lanotec.. I choose to check and keep them dry regularly. I wouldn't run between both maps personally. I can get over 100km on fire trails with the standard tank. I have a softer seat now. Higher and more cushion.. Although if you go through your dealer they can get you an 08 seat cheaper than retail as there was a deal going on for 07 owners..,,,
