2003 ram 3.7 l overheating. Water pump, thermostat, coolant are new but still overheating

A worn water pump is the most likely. If the coolant is going down, the water is going somewhere.

The most common reasons an Oldsmobile Alero is overheating are a coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the radiator fan, or a failed thermostat. Coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.)

Overheating engine first :

1. Coolant level adjust or verify
2. Engine thermostat stuck closed
3. Check water pump belt and water pump could be defect or broken.
4. The last one is air clog inside coolant system

Overheating is caused by:
1. plugged radiator core
2. Wrong mix of water and coolant.
3. Low coolant level.
4. stuck thermostat
5. hoses collapsing.
6. Air lock in system
7. Bad fins on water pump.

Removing the timing chain cover to gain access to the water pump is a tedious job. Consider ruling out other causes such as a defechive coolant sensing unit which is relatively commom. Can you leave your hand on the radiator cap or is too hot?

There are 3 common reasons for a car over-heating:

• lack of coolant due to a leaking radiator hose
• clogged thermostat-fails to open to allow more coolant from entering the the system
• bad water pump- although most bad water pumps tend to leak, it's possible to have a bad bearing inside the water pump which in turn would fail to adequately circulate coolant
  

you could have a thermostat tha is stuck closed or the water pump impellers are rotted off. try changing thermostat first

2. Coolant leak check for loss of, during "not hot" running condition. (water pump, hoses)
3. Replace the thermostat. It's inexpensive and easy enough to do.

Hello Ranger Joe, eight months and two radiators is very uncommon. Question, Have you visually confirmed the leak in the radiators or is the leak near the hose connections? Replacing the radiator, cap, water pump, & the thermostat leaves only two others, the hoses and the engine block/heads. Far fitched will be something or somebody poking holes in the radiator.

If the car is overheating it could be due to a thermostat which is stuck in the closed position, a failed water pump or just a slack belt driving it. I think there will be a "little" tube carrying coolant from the engine to the coolant expansion tank, and if you run the engine with the filler cap removed you should see water coming through that pipe IF the rump is running. A failed water pump will not necessarily leak, it just won't pump the water round the engine.

Always take care when dealing with a pressurised cooling system on an overheating engine - the water may well be above boiling point.

If you run the engine without coolant the cylinder head may well warp and repair bill will be huge.

Overheating can be casued by a few things.

1)Thermostat
2)Water pump
3)Dirty coolant clogging the pump

A thermostat is the cheapest part to replace, a thermostat opens and closes allowing coolant into the motor as needed to keep it cool, if it gets stuck closed then it doesn't allow any coolant into the motor thus overheating.

A water pump is what pumps your coolant around the system, and if this goes no coolant moves thus overheating. Usually when these go bad they leak coolant and are also noisy when bad.

Lastly could be bad or dirty coolant, a coolant flush can take care of this.

If I were you I would start with the thermostat followed by the coolant flush, both of these can be done in your driveway.
