May 15, 2021 - 2007 gsxr 600. I changed clutch cover due to being broken. Put new oil in. Won't start. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your bike yourself ...
Use any oil that is a JASO MA rated/certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold
climate. 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Car oils use different
additives and may cause scoring in certain types of cam bearings. Do not use any oil that says Energy Conserving on the label .
It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. If
you use Synthetic oils, they will help your motorcycle run cooler and shift
easier. Suzuki sells an excellent 15w-50 full synthetic motorcycle oil that is reasonably priced.
Three quarts for an oil change, 3.3 quarts if filter is changed also. Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. Please rate my answer. Thanks!
One of two things is happening. One is the cost of a double oil change and filter. The other requires your banks loan officer.
Change gearbox oil and install a new oil filter. Dirt and grit in the oil is binding the gears and shift drum. Ride the bike for a couple of hours. Now drain the oil again and put in fresh oil. This will flush out the dirt and grit. Use 10w40 motor oil. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. If dirty oil is not the problem at least we eliminated the possibility for only the cost of a few quarts of oil.
Now let's talk about that loan officer. The shop is going to charge around $1000 plus to replace a bent shift fork. This is not a repair for the untrained. Sorry.
