My Kymco People S 200 scooter jerks/ misses at full throttle (usually when I am going downhill ~ 95 to 100 km/hr). This is at approximately 1450 to 1500m asl. Anyone with similar (altitude-related) problems ? Main jet ? Any assistance would be gratefully received Ian

Carb, air filter?if it is only downhill maybe the chain can't keep up since you are at max.auto clutch?that's something different.good luck.

Testimonial: "Thanks very much for this. Looks like this scooter is not meant to go over 100 km/hr (downhill). I have a short section of freeway when commuting - better avoid it"

after further looking at some manuals i would say you are exceeding the auto clutch limits.

to make this a little clearer...here you go.when you are at max throttle/top gear, auto clutch kicks in looking for a higher gear.since there is none it goes back to highest gear creating jerking.during this very little period of time, extra gas goes into the carb while autoclutch is looking for gear.when it kicks back in the extra fuel causes misfire as it is too rich of a mixture.you really need to try to avoid doing this as it could easily blow a hole in your piston.i have seen it before.just throttle down a little.

You have a rev limiter that kicks in around this speed. It can be disabled. Check rhe kymco forum in a couple days I will be posting on this subject

My scooter jerks when I try to go full throotle why?

could be that the throttle pot is faulty or the motor needs a service, try a service first as this is the cheaper option.

KYMCO Sputters and Dies at random

Filling the tank full is okay. The problem sounds like condensation in the gas tank has made it to the carburetor. There should be a screw or drain plug on the side or bottom of the carb float bowl. Drain the carb and also drain some gas from the fuel line to remove any water and trash in the system. Chances are this will get you back on the road.

Changing the speedometer cable

Assuming it's the same as my Kymco Agility, it's really easy cheapest is to buy a new one on ebay, it connects under the right handlebar to the throttle, there's a clip under the handle clip it in rescrew on the throttle handlebar and feed it through to the carb, just feed it through where the old one went and connect it to the top of the carb and that's it.
