May be low oil, low oil pressure (faulty oil pump) or a bad pressure switch. When your at highway speeds the pump, pumps faster & brings the oil to the right PSI. Try a thicker oil than called for, get the oil pressure checked,oil leaks? & get the switch ckd out.

If your oil level is good, that is between the low and high marks, that light blinking is an indicator there is a problem with your oil pressure. The light flashing could be low oil level, a bad oil pressure sensor, your oil pump going out or a clogged line or pick up. Start by checking your oil level, then test the sensor if both are good drain your oil and pull the oil pan off to see if the pick up is clogged, if it is clean it. If everything is good at this point then the problem is the pump itself and you'll need to replace the pump.

as long as the bike has oil in it you might have a faulty oil senser

there is always the possibility that you really have low oil pressure when you get this light, at idle the engines oil pump produces the least pressure and if there are problems then that is when it shows up, so have the oil pressure tested by a shop with a mechanical test gage, if the oil pressure is within spec then replace the oil pressure light sending unit on the engine, I don't recommend you drive this until u are sure of the pressure, u can SEVERELY damage the engine is the pressure is really low.

first, check you battery terminals, make sure they are clean and tight.

Oil sending unit. You can check this yourself with an oil pressure gauge. or send the job out to a repair shop. The thing you want to know is that your oil pump is putting out the correct pressure. The sending unit has a little filter in it that gets clogged or the unit itself goes bad. Have it checked out no biggie.

It may mean you have any of the following:
A faulty sensor
A leak (sensor is picking up a reduction in pressure)
A faulty oil pump

first , do not panic nor rev your motor .
you have first check the oil condition and level .
Does the oil pump light or oil pressure light stays on ?
you have to make sure your oil is not too old as well .
your bike has been serviced recently ?
you have to work with process of elimination .
with the few things i have asked and mention above you should make sure all these are ok .
After checking all these and the noise persist , you will have the following to check :
- check your spark plugs for oil burning .
- check coolant level and trace of oil in it
- try to locate the source of noise , top , bottom of motor
- does the noise increases when giving gas .
- does the noise sound heavy or " tin " noise
check all these and get back to me and i will try to give you more explanation.

tw's are great bike, just have to make sure it is on a tip top shape. you are correct, you may want to check on the pump because if there is no oil going to the filter, then the pump is at fault or the flow of oil from and to the pump may be blocked.

you may also want to check on your seals and gaskets as this may also cause pressure drops.
