Engine symbol appears on the dash of the bike and

BMW R1200GS 2005 Engine symbol appears on the dash of the bike and there is a click sound but the bike does not start.Turned off the bike and on again. The computer goes through diagnostics with no errors but still does not start. The computer and potentiometer was replaced recently by a BMW garage. Also since then I periodically get an EWS in capital letters across the display when starting the bike, if I turn the bike off and on again it goes away and the bike started.

I really could do with help as I am touring Europe in a week on this bike.

I suggest make one SCANNING FAULT CODES to knowed exactly what code are there.

Its posible taht the fuel pump controller fails for some reason (water inside, for exampl), the fuel pump will not run and the bike fail to start. The controller can be bypassed to get the bike moving again. Links here and here

Hope helped.

Removing the rear frame of a R1200GS? Can it be done without going to BMW? How difficult is it?

You basically split the bike in half. You need a way to support the machine under the engine and then remove the whole rear section of the bike. You will have to disconnect the brake lines to the rear brakes and remove the wiring harness to the rear section of the bike. It is not a job for the timid..... but can be done if you have some mechanical aptitude and take your time.

Much easier on the R1200GS than the R1200CL listed in your title
