I drive 7 miles to work, by the time i get to work, and the car sits i come out at break and antifreez is all on the ground and nothing left in the overflow. If i run ac, it overheat almost immediatly.it dose not drain it compleatly cause when it circulates the temp gauge goes down a little. so the thermostat dose not seem tobe stuck. can u help me??? I'm poor and i have had to spend alot on antifreez.so now i just use water.
After running the car this far, when you get out, pop the hood and see if you can see where it may be coming from. It could be a simple overflow cap bad, which can cause a car to lose coolant and overheat. You would be surprised how many people pay for a service and it's just a $5 overflow tank cap. After a while this cap can't hold the pressure buildup and it releases at the cap, slowly and it will get worse. Look on the overflow tank for a white/yellowish residue, this is an indication the water is leaking here which will be from the heat of the water. Good Luck
Until you get it figured out use regular water. Replace thermostat and radiator/coolant tank caps. Thermostat regulates pressure in the motor and allows radiator to cool. Caps regulate atmosperic pressure. Either or both being bad will cause you system to siphon and fail.
