2004 Gsxr won’t start, replaced fuel pump and fuel hose, started with starter fluid, but dies quickly. Sat for bout a year! Trying to bring back to life

From here just go through what you need to run and what you know. You know that it will start with starting fluid so you have spark. Next check your airbox and make sure it's clean. If all that's good and you have compression then you are not getting fuel where it needs to go. If it's fuel injected then get some fuel injector spray and clean those babies out. Make sure there is fuel getting to he fuel pump. If it sat with fluid in the tank then you may need to clean it out real good. My guess is that your petcock is clogged. If you have carbs then you may have to clean them more than once to get all the gunk out.

My truck has been sitting in a garage for 7 years and want stay running

The very first thing you do is get rid of the gas in the tank. When petrol sits for a year or more, varnish develops in the tank and lines. Once you do that, add a fuel additive for cleaning out a varnished fuel system. Ask your local Auto Zone or whomever you go to, I would then check that you have fuel pressure to the fuel system by removing a line and having someone crank it for you. If no fuel pressure, the fuel pump has been glued by varnish. If you do have fuel pressure, then you should check the distibutor cap on the inside to free any corrosion on the contacts. Make sure the spark plugs are good, and if not change them. Hope this helps.

Wont start - One year old.

Did you leave fuel in it for a year? If so you need to thoroughly clean out the fuel system. Gasoline has a shelf life of about 30 days! After a year it is gummy varnish and caked up in in the carb. Always add StaBil to your fuels that are going to sit for a while.
Also mix your fuel with the proper 2-stroke oil, this is important. Finally always keep the gas tank on the saw full. Do not run it lower than half a tank!

I love my z it has sat up for 2 yrs, wont crank, a friend mac cked it and poured gas in carb? it cranked. he said it was a fuel pump, any way to tell for sure

If a vehicle has been standing for 2 years yuou need to clean out the whole fuel system because the fuel turns gummy and clogs up small passages, valves and jets.

I CAN'T GET FUEL TO THE PRIMER BULB. THIS IS THE SECOND BULB I'VE INSTALLED, BUT THIS TILLER HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. SHOULD I REPLACE THE BULB AGAIN?

The problem is probably not the bulb itself, rather the fuel orifices within the carburetor are clogged with old gummy fuel. Sometimes, just draining the old fuel and adding fresh fuel (properly mixed) to the tank and let it sit a few days, will allow you to pump the fresh fuel through the carb. If this doesn't work, the carb will need to be removed and cleaned. I also strongly recommend to replace the gaskets and diaphragms within the carb when it is cleaned. As fuel ages, it gets thick and eventually turns to varnish. In the future, make sure that you run all of the fuel out of the equipment, or use a fuel stabilizer. Stabilizer will usually keep fuel good for 6 to 8 months instead of the 60 - 90 days without it.
Good luck!

Not getting fuel

If the car sat for a year then the fuel pump might be stuck. Have someone try to start it while you smack on the bottom of the gas tank until you hear the pump run.

Try draining all the old fuel out and running fresh fuel through it.Dont try to dilute it as stale fuel turns acidic and corrodes everything it is in contact with.Fuel system may require complete clean out

Need 2 get truck started

I had a geo metro that sat a long time and the gas turned to varnish. You will need to drop the tank, clean out the gunk, put in a new fuel pump and and filter and flush the fuel lines out to the injectors.
