How to remove rear turn signal lens for nightster?

could be you have the wrong type of led bulb for this car look in socket, if you see 2 prongs then you need a led that will have 2 prongs

Secure the motorcycle upright on a suitable lift and then remove the main fuse and the seat. Lift the motorcycle just sufficiently to remove pressure on the shock absorber bolts and remove the lower ones and then lift the motorcycle higher to increase clearance between the tire and the fender.THEN unplug license plate lamp connector and the right rear lighting harness connector which has a brown band on the harness near the connector and then also unplug left rear harness connector and carefully pull both rear lighting harnesses and the license plate lamp harness through the holes in the fender and free all of the harnesses from the fender harness clips and remove rear turn signal stalk nuts from under the fender on both sides. THEN loosen and remove the front fender support screw and washer and nut and then the rear fender support screw with washer and washer and nut plates if present and remove the screw and washer attaching the rear fender brace. If necessary remove license plate lamp module harness from the upper harness clips on the left side of the inner and separate the license plate bracket from the rear fender brace. THEN remove the rear fender strut covers and the attached turn signal assemblies from the fender struts and pull the turn signal harnesses through the fender holes and struts as the strut covers are taken off. THEN put suitable materials between each fender strut and fender to protect the paint. It might be best to have someone assist and hold the fender at appropriate times. THEN you can remove the seat post with its washer and screw.

remove rear left lens and install new turn signal bulb.

Front Turn Signal and Parking Lights
1991-96 MODELS

1. Remove the lens upper retaining screw and the fender side retaining screw.
   
2. Slide the lens assembly forward until access to the rear is possible.
   
3. If necessary, unplug the bulb electrical connection.
   
4. Turn the bulb socket assembly counterclockwise and remove it from the lens.
5. Depress and twist the bulb approximately 1?8 turn
   counterclockwise, then remove it from the socket.

6. Align the bulb's locating pins, then install the bulb in the socket.
   
7. Attach the socket to the lens and turn it clockwise to engage it.
   
8. If removed, attach the bulb electrical connection.
   
9. Place the lens into position, then tighten the fender side and upper
   retaining screws.

Peel back the trunk lining to reveal three wing nuts. Remove wing nuts to pull lens cap away from car. To remove bulb socket push on the rectangular button (the release) while pushing on the end of the socket to unlock and spin counter clockwise to release. pull out old bulb and reinstall lens cap.

Signal and Marker Lights REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Front Turn Signal and Parking Lights

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. At the rear of the front bumper, turn the bulb socket 1⁄4 turn and remove the socket from the parking brake housing.
3. Remove the bulb from the socket; if necessary, replace the bulb.
4. If lens replacement is necessary, remove the retaining bolts and remove the lens from the bumper.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedures. Check the turn signal/parking light operations.

Rear Turn Signal, Brake and Parking Lights 1984–89 VEHICLES

1. If removing an inner bulb, remove the license plate. For outer bulb replacement, reach from under the vehicle.
2. To remove the inner rear brake light, you must reach behind the license place and under the vehicle to access the bulb and socket
3. Remove the socket from the lens by releasing the locking tab and twisting
4. Once the bulb and socket are pulled from the rear of the lens, grasp it from behind the license plate opening
5. Then, pull it out of the side and replace the bulb
6. Remove the bulb from the socket and replace.
7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
