HONDA STX 1300 STILL WON'T START WHEN COLD....NOT EVERY TIME

Still having trouble with cold start. Not every time but approx 5 out of 10 starts.
My first Pan went back to the seller who tried everything they could including replacing expensive parts. This didn't cure the problem.
I partexchanged the bike for a new Pan elsewhere, I am now getting exactly the same problem having reached 20,000 miles. The same number of miles as my last Pan.
Would really like to know if anyone else has reported the same problem. Very difficult when it doesn't happen every time. I have videoed it and played it to mechanics but still have the problem.
Anyone out there with a possible solution???
Regards Tony

Try fuel filter...it's fuel injected and needs the right pressure...low fuel pressure is starving the cylinders of gas

1990 Volkswagon Jetta won't turn back on after long drive.

Then you have a start up problem and it reside with the cold start valve,The cold start valve operates even if the vehicle is warmed up,the cold start valve can be plugged up,or even have a bad connection,The cold start valve operates by a thermotime switch. This switch located on the near bottom of the radiator may have gone bad or disconnected,Here is the easy cost effective route, replace them both,it will cost more to trouble shoot it than just replace it.

Have you checked the battery is charging , when the battery is cold it will regain some of the lost charge from when it was running, it is also a fact that a battery is more likely to fail when it is hot, rather than when its cold, try a battery pack on the bike when it fails to start also it would be a good idea to drop test the battery, may be something mechanical, but you need to check out the battery even a new battery can fail whet type is it?, paul

New honda hrr auto choke hard to start

sounds like it may need the carb clening out, but it could be the auto choke not closing when cold. there was an issue with some of the early auto chokes on the gcv135/160 engines so check to see if the choke flap is in the closed position when starting from cold, run the engine for approx 10-15 minutes and see if the choke flap has opened fully.leave it to go cold and see if the choke flap has returned to the closed position

CHECK FUEL FILTER make sure fuel is not restricted by trash.check that fuel system cut off is not missing vacuum(some cut-offs stop fuel when no vacuume is present) Also check fuses, not just look good but in solid contact.Fuel pump relay could be weak,or pump could be worn and not producing enough pressure. Clean out the carbs jets or injectors.

St1300 will not run below 2000 rpm

your bike has three different fuel delivery methods...choke , low speed or pilots in the old days, and main fuel rails or mains in the carb days. your choke or idle circuit is not working. on fuel injected bikes you have a relay which you need to get checked to see if it's a possible contributor. best to take to honda dealer and they can diagnose the problem. hope that helped a little sir.
