Unplug the handlebar wires where they connect to the wiring harness. Remove the black electrical connectors at the end of the wires. Pull the wires through the ends of the handlebars. Silicone lubricant sprayed into the bars will make this a bit easier, and you should be able to leave the silver pins on the ends of the wires, saving yourself some work when installing your new bars. Leave the wires connected at the handlebar controls when doing this. Just unscrew the controls from the bars and pull the wires.
Hi That is probably the handlebar hi / lo (or lights on / off if fitted) switch or no power to it Check for power at the headlamp fuse If no then suspect the ignition switch or wiring / connectors to it If yes then check for power going into handlebar switches If no then check wiring / connectors to them
You can use an ohm meter to figure it out too. Just take the switch housing halves loose and look at what color wire goes to what switch. No problem.
Other wise you are going to have to find someone with a schematic or purchase a service manual for a late model. Wiring diagrams are difficult to find online. The latest I have is 1994.
This information applies to the vast majority of Honda motorcycles. Colors for the right handlebar switch are: Grey sends power to the turn signal switch. Light Blue goes from the turn signal switch, to the right turn signals. Orange goes to the left turn signals. Light Green goes to the horn button.
The left handlebar switch: Yellow With Red stripe goes to the starter button. Black wires take power to the headlight switch and the kill switch. White goes to the headlight low beam, Blue to the high beam. Brown / White goes to the tail light, running and instrument lighting. Black / White comes from the kill switch and delivers power to the ignition coils.
I hope this helps.
