Bike wont idol below 2 grand

Ok i own a 1992 or a 93 im not sure but it is a genisis.my problem is the idol.i cant get it to idol unless its above 2,000 rpms as soon as it drops below 2,000 rpms it goes straight to 950 to 1000 and starts to shut down but if i rev the engine with the throttle its sputters a lil then comes back to life only to die down again until eventually it shuts off..ive adjust the pin screw to get the idol above 2,000 but i dont want to keep it there .its too high.would spark plugs be the problem?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, the described idling problem would be a carb issue. The carbs set has to be pulled down, fully dis-assembled, all non-rubber parts soaked in carb cleaner and cleaning be done specially on the jets and pin holes.

In some instances high idle could be caused by a vacuum leak in any of the rubber coupling between the carbs and the intake manifolds.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

I have a pocket bike that wont start unless u put gas where the spark plug is and then it will run&idle but once u give it throttle it dies there is no high or low screw there 1 screw &the idle screw

yes sounds like carbs need to be stripped and cleaned once that's done and bike ok you better off putting an inline fuel filter on bike stop any debris going in carb again , filters are good for about 1000 miles so worth putting one in

The bike wont idol without the choke just slightly on, the idol when idoling fluctuates in a nonconsistant manner. It will run and drive but still not quite rite.

Have you sync the carbs lately? Remove the plugs and read them for fuel mixture problems. replace if they are wet or fouled ---Check for vacuum leaks around the carb boots. having to run with choke indicates a pilot circuit in the carbs is clogged, or one of the above.

Pocket bike starts with starting fluid but then even after its warm it wont start on its own, and when its running the idol is higher with the choke on, the bike almost wants to take off, if I turn the...

Did u put oil on the air filter? if thats ok then it sounds like you have a clogged pilot jet in the carb, pull the float bowl and remove jets then poke thru with fine wires untill clean. also take note of air mixture screw which will be located around the opening of the carb. clockwise will richen it up and start to make the idle drop and counter clockwise will do the opposite.

Idols then starts to rev up all by its self

OK, there should be a warmed up idle adjustment on this bike on the carbs under the tank (like my 1985 Honda Interceptor). Maybe it's set too high. On my bike the screw has a knob on it for easy adjustment.

On the Kawasaki motorcycles I'm ot sure if they had this feature.
But, if they don't, then a screwdriver should be enough to turn the idle adjustment screw.

Also, check for kinked cables for the throttle.

Happy biking!

My idol screw needs 2 b ajusted 2 factory settings

No you are confusing the idle screw (a thumb-screw) with the air/mixture screws, these are turned inwards (clockwise) until they lightly seat & then back out the specified amount
You should have the bike tuned by a professional who should include synchronising the carbs, this will let the engine run more smoothly, idle at lower revs ,increase speed & all-round performance speed

on the oil ? whoever done an oil change put too much oil back in but dont worry cause it wont hurt anything if it burns oil which im sure it probably does at least a little bit cause my moms 2001 does just keep an eye on it and you will be ok

Idols high when comming to a stop wont idol down

Sounds like you have either a carb with a sticky slide. Pull air box and look down carb throats while twisting throttle (assuming the bike is not EFI)
