the floats are easy to fix...getting to them is the problem. the old gass has gone bad and will not ease up if new gass added.
remove carbs undo the 4 retaining bolts on the bottom of the carbs spray with carb cleaner free them up by hand (try not to adjust anything) and replace on bike !
It is probably a carburetor over flow tube. If the float has saturated with fuel and sunk or if the float needle is stuck causing the bowl to over flow gas, the fuel is supposed to come out the tube rather than fill your engine with gasoline (ruining your oil). A fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron might clean the inside of the carburetor with out disassembly. If you tap on the bowl of the carburetor with the handle of a screwdriver you may be able to unstick the float needle but you will still need to degum the the deposits in the carb. If the cleaning does not work it is possible that the float needle is damaged and needs replacement. Try the system cleaner first, If that does not work , disassemble, clean, and inspect.
You are dealing with a stuck float, a stuck float needle, or a worn/bad float needle. Tap on the bowl of the carburetor with the plastic end of a screw driver. This may unstick the float then, a fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron can be put into the gas gas to clean up any varnish causing the issues. If this does not fix the problem you will have to take the carburetor off , clean , and inspect the needle and float.
One of the carbs has a stuck float or needle is stuck. some times you can rap the carbs on the bottom with a hammer handle to free up the stuck float. Try raping each carb on its bowl to unstick it. The fuel line is a over flow from the carbs for just this cause. Or you did not get a clamp on just right.
Were the carbs leaking before you took them apart? try this use a rugger mallet of the hadle of a hammer and rap on the carb body to jar the carbs some times after rebuilding the carbs the float has not reacted to the fuel level. or you missed something in replacing the needle seat. If the carbs where gummed up from old fuel the little plunger on the float needle may be stuck it should move freely check it if its stuck soak it in carb cleaner you may need to take small needle nose pliers and grab it and give it a little twist to fee it be careful don't chew it up then soak it work it a few times. may be a stuck float in the carb. Sometimes a sharp rap to the carb can cause the float to unstick. If this doesn't do it possible trash in float needle seat requiring float bowl removal to clean.
i agree with you. i had the same thing happen to me varnish on float caused it to stick in the down position when i turned the gas on it would flood out i had to change my oil to. did you stablize it if not get the carb. cleaned and make sure you fog the cylinders and add fuel stablizer to gas dont run it empty and think its good enough its not.
