Recheck all connections if you have not allready done that encluding all grounds. I would then look at the voltage regulator.

Harley Davidson - FXSTI Softail standard cranks but will not start

If the bike has carbs, try cleaning them because the only other problem is that the bike is not getting fuel.

Rear cylinder not firing

Carb or fuel injection? Spark or no spark? Check for spark by putting a new plug into lead and laying on cylinder head. Leave old plug in engine. Start bike. If carb and no spark then plug or coil would be first suspects, then ignition module, then wiring from coil to ignition module. This is assuming you have compression on rear cylinder and all mechanical checks completed. If fuel injection and good spark, then ECU most common problem. Then injector, then wiring. If no spark, check coil, then wiring frpm coil to ECU, then ECU.

Runs then sputters and wont start

you might need to clean you stator(altinator) or maybe get a new one for you spark to work right if you have already changed the coil.also bad gas can do it also or low fuel.when the tank is low put your bike gas valve on reserve.A friends bike was running badly and all i did was put it on reserve cause the tank was low and the bike ran great after that.

No spark

alrighty, I had the same issue with my bike. It took days of tracing the issue with a volt meter and I discovered an intermittent short that would "fry" my coi. This made the bike not start and when I replaced the coil, because I had removed the old coil and moved the wires the issue disappeared for a short time. It is known that SOMETIMES when the coil is mounted the two wiresthat go to the coil somhow get stretched. This over time cause an intermittent short and the coil is rendered "dead". The Fix: 1.get a replacement coil. 2.you need 6 inches of #18 wire 3. two aluminum wire splicers and two aluminum circle fittings for the coil posts. 4.take off the old coil. 5.cut back the wires that go to the coil about an inch. 6. using the aluminum splicers splice the wires making them about 3 inches longer. 7.splice in the aluminum circle fittings. 8.mount the new coil. 9. fire the bike up. Enjoy riding.

Riding down the freeway on my 1985 FXR, it was 115 degrees, bike stopped running. Have gas, don't have spark at plugs. New coil. New battery. New wires.

lotta possibilities....likely something vibrated loose. i'd start with something simple. after u check electrical connections and fuses,,,,, is the ignition module black lead secured to the frame ? all coil wires secure ? Pull the key ignition....check connections/ crossed? secure ?
