Do a vin check with a dealer but make sure you get all the numbers mine is an 1981 yz 250 and it only has 8 digits the dealer didn't know **** call the maker of your bike

Check the igniter. Go back to the dealer and ask him to see one. Then go back and find it on your bike. Yamaha's usually have them under the seat, or left side. But I don't know exactly what year you have. Run the VIN on the frame under my tips and tricks is a web site that'll break it down for you.
post a picture of you bike in the site for good comparison. usually bike differ in placements of parts and frame, we will be able to know what year model your bike came out, just post a picture of it here.
usually on the front fork area where the forks pivot there should be a manufacter sticker with the brand and year and most times the size also. Just a guess but my bikes have them.
