I have a KZ 1100 that lost spark on number 2 and 3

I have a 1981 KZ 1100 that lost spark on number 2 and 3 cylinders. I can't seem to find the problem and do not have a manual to track wiring.

Try to change coil from one side to the other, if the spark goes to 2 & 3 but not 1 & 4 you need the coil replaced or find the power loss (blown fuse) .I have not worked on that bike so am not sure. also color code on wires in the harness will be enough to follow wires without the book,no need to cut them open just note the colors at the point you are trying to check, follow along the way untill that color comes to a conector. or to the fuse buss or device.A multi meter can check condition between points Hope that will help you good luck .Joe

You bike has 2 coils. 1 fires cyls' 1&4 the other fires 2&3. Check the connections or you may have a bad coil.

? Got a 1977 kz 1000 wont get spark on all 4 cylinders

You probably have a bad coil. The bike has 2 coils that supply 2 cylinders each. (See diagram) bf6824ba-8a5a-45b3-8ecc-7c4554934650.jpg

Kz 440 starter works it wont kick over might not be getting spark. how do i figure that out?? any other advice?

take a plug out fit it back into the plug cap and rest it against the cylinder head(away fom the plug hole) turn the engine over and look for a spark at the plug, make sure the hexagonal part(spanner part) of the plug is touching the cylinder head. dont touch the plug while turning the engine over ,this shock will hurt.

Number 1 cylinder has spark but not firing, I have gone through the carbs, and new plugs, I switched 1 and 2 plug wires and it did not help

Hummm, well to fire you need spark (at the correct time), compression, and fuel.
It sounds like you have spark, so do you have COMPRESSION? It needs to be similar to the other cylinders +/- 15% or so.

IF you have spark, and compression, try an external fuel source diagnostically, in the #1 cylinder. Spray some carb cleaner into that carb when unit is running.

Did you balance the carbs? Carb surgery often gets balance all out of spec.

Fuel leaking out of upper tail pipe on my 1994 honda shadow 1100

sounds like fuel is not burning in cylinder, check for spark in that cylinder first. if no spark may need new plug, new igntion wire or new ignition coil. next check for compression in that cylinder.

Lost of one cylinder

We both cylinders firing before plug change? If they were, put a couple more brand new plugs in the engine. You must have a "bad" brand new plug, not uncommon these days of Chinese imports.
