I have a 2006 650cc V-Star Custom and am interested in replacing the engine with an 1100cc. Will the 1100cc engine fit into the 650's frame, and will the 1100 cc hook up to the stock 650cc tranny? I haven't been able to locate a source which tells me about the interchangeability of parts between the V-Star class bikes: can you help me with these questions?

SOURCE: 1999 Yamaha Vstar 650 Custom ...makes clicking noise when trned

i use a jump box on mine most weekends when i wanna take it out, i hook the red to battery and black onto my exhaust and it fires right up no problem. is the clicking noise coming from the fuel pump behind the ignition? it should click for a few seconds then stop. if it stays on then you are not getting enough fuel outta the tank, change the fuel filter and if bike had been stored for winter get a good fuel system cleaner, additive type. if in USA get Berrymans B12, double dose get bike to run hopefully let it stand overnight and all should be fine. fingers crossed. if is is clicking from somewhere else like starter or a relay by the battery, check all the ground terminals you can find

How to remove starter from yamaha v star 650 custom

Starter sits on the front left side of the engine... long (7" ?) cylinder with two bolts. Just pull it out... all the guts are housed inside it.

I have a 2000 yamaha vstar custom 650. After engine mods I have the horsepower to appreciate a higher gearing ratio for lower rpms on the highway. I heard of folks replacing their rear shaft drive...

there should be OEM and third party solutions to your problem...as far as a mod from a virago shaft drive i wouldn't call a "solution" considering what a major mod this is and the expense involved in executing it. i'll research some specs on some 535 shafts and etc.. let you know what i find...
