My 2004 VTX 1800C will not crank. It was cranking but slowly due to battery. I put the charger on it and all works except will not crank. I can jump out the solenoid and it will crank so starter and battery seem ok.

Try this. Turn on headlite then try to start.Watch lite,if it goes real dim to off trouble is battery. If lite does not change, still bright, trouble is bad starter,or bendix or solonoid.Starter is not requesting power so lite stays bright.Don,t forget to check ground wires at battery and frame. You changed battery check connections.

Lite dims just as if trying to start. Acting if Solenoid is not engaging or kickstand switch is open.

1998 Ford escort No crank no start. Slightly touching wires inside behind fuse area alarm light goes out & manual doors make clicking noise. Same area plug loose can't find connection. batt good.

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. At the starter motor, two voltage circuits, one comes from battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the start position and is wired through neutral or clutch switch depending on the tranny.
The starter motor grounds through the engine block.
Any testing at starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Use a test light to check for voltage.
There are various testing procedures that you can use that bypasses some systems, just to see if starter motor will crank the engine. If you try that, make sure tranny is out of gear and functional parking brake is set.

Your alternator might be bad. Check if your alternator is functioning well.

2001 GMC Sonoma. SLS 6 Cyl 4 WD 4.3 Vortec. I turn the key on and nothing happens. My dash lights up, all lights come on, fuel pump runs, starter relay clicks, Still nothing. I replaced the starter,...

Tilt the steering wheel down all the way and see if it starts, if it does then there is a main power wire loose in the steering columb. Thats all which comes to my mind at this time.

Won't start..new batt. Starts to turn over then just kinda rumbles. Fuel pump shutoff switch is stuck in the down position.

Shut off switch should be down if it was up there would be no fuel to engine,Sounds like the starter needs to be checked, Or the wires to it need checked, clean and tight.

I have a 2003 Grand-Am. It will not start, no

I would make sure you hooked the big hot wire to the altinator correct. If that is ok I would check the connection to the baterry is right.

Installed new battery minutes ago. Lights, horn

Hi:
I am not sure what was the reason why your battery needed replacing, but if it was dead, I am guessing your alternator wasn't charging it?
Take off the serpentine belt on your engine, and check to see if all accessory items turn smoothly, to include the power steering pump, AC, alternator, and the idler pulley. If any of these wont turn , the car won't crank either. If you totally remove the belt, you can see if the car will start, and go from there, but don't let it run too long without the belt.

Lights, horn work but car wont start

Troubleshoot the starter. If your battery is good, then you WILL have power...the lights will work, horn, etc, but....if the starter is toast...you need a starter.
