If the starter wont turn the engine over try putting the bike on its center stand plonking it in top gear and turning the rear wheel to see if the engine is sezed up,, it may just be very tight,,,or the starter may have set solid from lack of use, also the battery is by now dead,,,18 months stood doing nothing and not chareds very often wont do it any good at all, try using a car battery to jump start the bike

Probably starter or a discharged battery. Try charging up the battery first. Anyone with a voltmeter could check the battery condition. If it is at 12.2 volts or higher, it should turn the engine over at normal starting speed. If under 12 volts, it is discharged and maybe too low to crank the engine over.
If your battery is at full charge, you probably need to pull the starter off and have it tested for free at any parts store.

MOTORCYCLE BATTERY GOES FLAT

Have you checked the charging output from your alternator? With the engine running, you should get about 14 volts across the battery terminals. If the battery is good, after a charge you should get a reading of around 12.7 to 13.2 volts. If the voltage is less, especially with the motor running, you may have a charging problem due to rectifier bank failure or battery breakdown due to "overcharging" if the reading is above 14 volts. [This is also a rec' fault]. My assumptions are that this batt' goes flat when run on the bike after a full charge. I hope this helps a bit.

Been sitting for six months won" start

try your battery first most of the time thats the problem when you turn on your engine you should have lights if you dont then your battery is dead and that is the problem would reccomend you either charge the battery if that dosent work replace it but check first if lights are working a 6 month lie up would deaden your battery best of luck also any battery charger would do for the charge and also on a short term you can jump it from a car battery with the leads just to make sure its the battery also but do not try and charge from the car just check to make sure its the battery by doing this

Engine wont turn over at start

Hi, Do you have an alarm & Immobiliser fitted on your bike as these drain the battery on your bike very quickly? If so i would recommend removing your battery and fully charging it with a decent amp-age charger. If you have your garage attached to your house then i would definitely recommend purchasing a trickle charger and when not using your bike keep this plugged into the mains and you should not have this problem again. all motorbike shops sell these chargers If after this the battery goes flat again i would suggest purchasing a new battery. This is a common fault as most motorbikes sit in the garage through the winter months and if not kept on charge will deteriorate. Hope this helps.

Is the 10 amp se-40ma battery charger to big for my motorcycle battery can it over heat or over charge it

A battery that might sit for a month at a time, would only need a trickle charge or about 1 amp, a charger of this type can stay hooked to the battery for the whole month. A 10 amp would be for a quick charge or only about 4 - 12 hours depends on how fast the battery lost the charge. A 10 amp charge would cook the battery if left for days.
