High rev at cold (winter cold!) idle

Your toyota technician should know what a "cold starting solenoid" is. It is the little thing that works your throttle until the motor warms up and something else takes over. I'd suggest going to another technician.

Can I use 15w40 oil for the engine in a toyota corolla 1998 (gasoline)? Thanks.

Why not? You can use any weight you want. But,,, I run oil that is with the weather, We live in FL, and it gets hot here. 10w40 min. Multi-viscocity, It means your oil starts out at 10 weight cold, and as it warms up , it's 40 weight. The beads in the oil expand. A lot of people up north run straight 30 weight, I would want something thinner in there when it is cold out. So the multi stuff works great. Hope this helps.

Body noises at low speeds

Dear Sir/Madam, You need to locate specifically where the noise is coming from to aid diagnoses. But if it is generalized it means the chassis and body are probably getting old and rusty. Lubrication of joints would be a good alternative.
Thanks & Best wishes
