Hi Jerome:
Shouldn't be too bad.
You could disconnect the fuel line at the carb and drain the tank.
Drain and flush the carb. Reconnect the fuel line and fill with fresh gas.
If it won't start, pull the spark plug and clean/dry it with a propane torch, or replace it.
Odds are it will be fine.
Cheers.
More likely to be a fuel line blockage. Remove fuel pipes from tank to pump and blow through with an air line. Old fuel can turn to jelly and when tank is drained the jelly enters the pipe and blocks it. So before you waste money on a pump check out the simple, less expensive alternatives.
Hi Vernon:
It sounds like a fuel delivery problem.
Is there a fuel filter? Could be plugged.
Check that fuel flowing through carb. Drain plug?
When carb serviced, were all small orifices clean out (compressed air?)
Hi there it seems as if you have a blocked fuel delivery line, take a look at the supply by means of elimination first take of the pipe going to carb from tank and see if there is a supply of fuel, if not take of the tap at tank side of fuel pipe be sure to part empty the fuel tank first then inspect the taps filter give a good clean with a air line make sure you blow through the whole tap as well as the filter,
this should help your problem and get you running again.
Replace fuel filter after cleaning tank thouroughly, to clean tank remove fuel line at carb. Drain all fuel then leave line loose until you flush tank with carb. Cleaner then blow out tank with compressed air. Now install new fuel filter and check your fuel can for trash and water better yet just add fresh fuel.
Assuming everything is back toether properly and was not the problem the frst place, remove the exhaust pipe to expose the exhaust ports to ensure they are not carbon block. Also check the exhaust it self for a spark arrestor screen that could hve been carbon fouled and clogged. Cannot free flow because of the problems noted above, you will not be able to run a two-stroke engine reliably.
Probably a plugged up filter screen in the gas tank petcock (gas valve). Drain the gas then remove the petcock and clean the wire mesh filter. Your bike is getting old and rust accumulates in the tank. You may want to get a liquid tank liner to lock the rust in place and so the tank won't rust anymore. Install an in-line fuel filter as well. A site for the tank liner is below.
Google“ kreem fuel tank liner “or go towww.http://www.4secondsflat.com/Fuel_Tank_Sealer.html Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ). Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.
Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well. < < READ CLOSELY > > Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.
