My RS50 won't rev out?

My RS50 won't rev out, when you open the throttle up it sounds like it is flooding until you drop the throttle off and it will recover, if you open up the throttle 'very' slowly it will build up the revs. any ideas? fraser

SOURCE: bike bogs for second then revs when throttling

Pull the slide out of the carb then remove the jet needle and move the clip one notch lower on the needle.

SOURCE: Bike won't rev up

Take out the exhaust canister from the cylinder and check the exhaust port.It may be jammed from burned oil.Clean it very carefully by scratching it with a bended flat screw driver but don't scar the piston.While you are in there move the piston up and down to check for scratches.Also make sure the exhaust reed valve is working properly

SOURCE: GSXR600 wont rev up when throttle is cranked

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, it would appear to be a carb issue. Initial suspect would be that the sliders (plungers) are not rising fast enough. This could be caused by:

  • varnish like coating / buildup impeding smooth movement;
  • poor vacuum;
  • leak on the diaphragm area;
  • clogged jet(s);
  • restricted air intake.

Incidentally, what is the color of the sparkplug ends?

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

I guess youwillhaveto adjust the clutch cable so as to open the plates more at the pressure plates to let the clutch plate rotate freely instead of binding thus the low rpm.
Hope this helps!

2013 avalanche 5.3 cold start engine revs up and down sometimes will not start until wide open throttle

Is the truck a E85 flex fuel vehicle? Not wanting to start sometimes until you give it wide open throttle means it's getting too much fuel, wide open throttle cuts fuel injectors fuel delivery.
Clear Flood Mode
If the engine floods, clear the engine by pressing the accelerator pedal down to the floor and then crank the engine. When the TP sensor is at wide open throttle (WOT), the ECM reduces the fuel injector pulse width in order to increase the air to fuel ratio. The ECM holds this injector rate as long as the throttle stays wide open, and the engine speed is below a predetermined RPM. If the throttle is not held wide open, the ECM returns to the starting mode.

Do you have a scan tool that can look at live data, fuel trims? Is the ECM adding fuel or taking fuel away. Mass air flow sensor data etc... Flex fuel calibrations may need to be reset .

Sound like you have a bad TPS. Also make sure your throttle body is nice and clean, that will contribute to the problem.

Flooding petrol

Saw is getting flooded? Does the saw run? After a few pulls with the choke on the saw should fire, Open the choke and in a couple of pulls the saw should start. If you have flooded thee saw you can hold it on the ground with your knee, hold full throttle and in up to ten pulls it should go with a slow start and some smoke, give it rev and away you go. Hope this helps

Carburetors could be dirty/blocked. Open throttle and spray carburetor cleaner in them, wait a few minutes, then start. Also spray carburetor cleaner again when revving. Should fix it.
Also, try starting with no choke and no throttle. It could be flooding.
Clean spark plugs.

Hi,
Sounds like a tune up is in order.
You can mask the problem by changing the fuel filter and spark plugs.
Also there is a small adjustment screw at the throttle linkage. Open the hood and stand close to the battery. Have someone rev the engine and look for the circle or half circle looking spring like mechanism.This is your throttle. Take a small screwdriver or other wrench [ some have different adjustment screws] and simply turn the screw you will see as the adjuster in about 1.4 turn until you are happy with the idle.

HI, IF IT IS FLOODED, TURN OF THE FUEL AND OPEN THE THROTTLE FULLY AND KEEP AT THIS POSITION WITHOUT THE CHOKE,KICK REPEATINGLY AND IT MAY FIRE EVENTUALY,

RREMEMBER THAT THE CHOKE INITIALY FLOODS THE ENGINE FOR COLD STARTING, SO USING THE CHOKE WHEN ALLREADY FLOODED WILL WORSEN THINGS,

YOU COULD PROBABLY REMOVE THE EXHAUST TO DISPENSE THE FUEL QUICKER AND PUT IN A CLEAN PLUG, I WOULD DO THIS BEFORE I STRIP DOWN THE CARB TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM CLEARS, AS THE BIKE WAS PREVIOUSLY RUNNING IT SEEMS ODD TO START MAKING ADDJUSTMENTS

It sounds like you are putting it into choke mode. The choke is usually all the way up on tractors. And it will make it backfire and flood out. Just rev it high enough to work and don't go into the choke mode. hope this helps.
