Could be bad piston rings but first check your oil in the engine and if its too full this could cause burning oil. Check your air filter and if its clogged replace it as this will do it also.
You must be more specific about exactly what model 250 you have. ie; KX, Ninja, KLR???? Also in which area does this oil go as in the KX, it would use a 2cycle oil in the gasoline premix and a transmission oil in the gearbox.
if your talking about fuel mix oil the best is either amsoil or red line fully synthetic oil is the best out there(not cheep though)...if your talking about engine oil (wet clutch)i think bel-ray is the best..(thats what i have had best luck and less breakdowns with)
I WOULD USE AMSOIL,OR RED LINE SYNTHETIC OIL ( WILL MAKE TOP END LAST ALOT LONGER).. AND THE MIX IS 32:1..... AND FOR ENGINE/TRANY OIL YOU CAN USE BEL-RAY ( BEST IN MY OPINION)
The plug on the side engine casing is for 10w40 motor oil. NEVER use synthetic lubricants or oil with 'special' additives. They can mess up your clutch. The 10w40 motor oil is shared by the gearbox and the engine because they are a single unit.
Use 4 ounces of two stroke engine oil for every gallon of gas. That will give you a 32 to 1 mixture which is the industry standard. If the outboard motor is a 2 stroke (most of them are), the engine oil is the same. Note the difference > Engine oil verses Motor oil. Motor oil in the gearbox, Engine oil in the gas.
hi mate gear oil wise you need light gear oil i reccomend silkolene, motorex, morris, rock oil for 2 stroke wise you need to buy a mixing bottle of ebay or something with a ratio of 32/1 and i use silkolene comp 2 premix competition oil descent stuff its 10 pound for 1 litre
