My RAM 100cc quad bike wont start. iv checked the flow of fuel into the carb and it all seems okay and the spark plug is sparking. The electric start button doesnt work though and when i kick start it there is no sign of starting. what else could there be to check ?

have you checked that you have compression? remove the spark plug and put you finger over the hole and try starting the bike your finger should be pulled into the hole
and how old is the fuel? it starts to break down after a few months

this typically comes down to basics. you engine needs air,fuel and spark to run. FUEL - pull the main fuel hose in to the carb from gas tank and turn on to be sure fuel is getting to the carb. SPARK - next pull out spark plug and while still connected to igntion cap, touch end of plug to motor and turn over engine. if you do not see spark, this is your issue and is usually the most common issue. if spark is present, spray starting fluid into the spark plug hole, reinstall plug and try to start, if it trys to start as in starts then dies, your not getting fuel past or from your carb. Clean carb. AIR - last but not least check your air filter and insure it is not clogged or obstructed and is allowing air to the engine. As for no spark, the can be many issues from a bad CDI ignition coil or generator/stator to just a bad kill switch or cut/unplugged wire.

your carb might need a clean.a clogged jet inside might be the problem.make sure you have free flowing gas to the carb

my quad wont start at all it turns over but not getting spark whats wrong with it ??

maby you have touched somthing on the carb when you changed the air filter or maby spark plug is to big or maby faulty try new one or your old one

try a little starting fluid in a carb see if fires if the bike fires up then dies then start checking for fuel line from tank to carb for flowing if it gets down to the carbs and not flowing (not sure if your bike includes a auto fuel shut off or not) but the problem could reside in this location otherwise there could be water in the fuel bowls in which case you drain the cups hope this helps to trace down your problem

hello this is only a solution

try putting a new float in the carb and check that it isnt flooded or the carb housing is cracked because it could be sucking in air some where and make sure its the right carb for the bike

if this dosent work the cheapest way it to make the valve clearance right as it says in the manual then try it if still not try bumping the bike if this dosent work just ask again

check spark,timing from side case side,then swap spark plug,try to bypass spark cap,then check flow of petrol to carb,clean carb and allow to cool if needed.Sometimes a coil just dies for no apparent reason..The last resort is to swap the coil inside the side case...

You didn't mention the spark plugs.Did you replace them?Check also for strong spark on the cables.Unscrew the spark plug's plug from the cable and keep the edge of the cable about half an inch from the engine (aim a bolt usually near the cylinder's head) and with the kill switch "ON" press the start motor's button and you should see a blue thick spark.
Also check for normal fuel flow from the tank to the carbs.Change a fuel filter if necessary.

To check the spark put the spark plug in the cap and rest the tip of the spark plug on the head of the engine and crank it over. You should see a strong spark.
(Remember doing this creates electricity so don't touch the tip)
