1994 suzuki 750 . do i check oil through looking glass with motor running or off ?

Balance the bike to a level position while looking at the oil glass, with the engine off. Bottom of glass is low, top of glass is full, no oil in glass, top it off, not quite a qt. Use high quality motor cycle full synthetic 5w 30. Hope this helps.
