Coughs out through carbies when changing gears

have you had the dispack changed on any of this trips to the mechanic's as it sound to me to be this. it would take around 30 min for it to over heat if it had a fault. then you would get a low spark, no power and eventually just stop working all together.

Depending on the mileage of the vehicle sounds like the timing belt has stretched. If the coughing is when you give it gas but not when it is not under load timing belt would be my guess. Good luck and drive safe.

if this is a carby type it sounds like the slides are out of sync,just means the slides are opening at different times you can do this yourself,but better to take to workshop to get synchronise them should not cost much cheers

Sounds like it could do with a cleanout of the carburettor. Also check for dirt/rust in fuel tank that could be restricting fuel flow to carby.

The carburator prolly needs to be cleaned out. Try some carb cleaner through the gas tank first.

Have you checked the condition of your reeds? This sounds like a good place to start troubleshooting.

I would be looking at the coil,plug lead & plug any one or all of these may be breaking down under load it may also be a loose or worn main jet in the carby are you sure your not over revving it in the lower gears that is holding the gear a little bit to long before changing

There are fuel antifreeze solutions available. Being from South Louisiana, USA, I don't use them nor do I know where to find them.

Holden Gemini has two different carbys the difference is the number of pins on wiring loom plug to carby, a couple of these pins are connected to switches on gearbox and it changes the carby settings depending witch gear it is in .One switch on gearbox is reversing lights and others if fitted are for carby.
