Take a paperclip or piece of wire and bridge out the two wires that attach to the sidestand switch. Unplugging them opens the circuit- to bypass you need to close the circuit.

Unplugging the clutch or sidestand switches does not bypass them...it makes the situation worse as it will disconnect the lockout system stopping the bike completely.

Bike cutting out

Do you have the kickstand up when you put it in gear? Many bikes have a lockout on the side stand to prevent you riding away with the stand down. Kills the engine instantly when placed in gear with the stand down.

Engine cuts off when put in gear

Most dual sport motorcycles have a switch at the kickstand that prevents bike from being ridden with the kickstand down. The engine will turn off if the bike is not in neutral while the kickstand is down. Make sure your kickstand is all the way up. If it is, you may have a faulty kickstand switch.

I just started my 2006 suzuki gsxr 600 for the first time since fall and it starts fine in neutral but as soon as i put it in gear it cuts off. The kickstand is up

Sounds like your clutch is stuck on [not disengaging when you pull the leaver]This can happen over a long storage-no use period. To fix put the bike in 3rd gear and start the engine with the clutch lever pressed[caution the bike will want to surge forward so keep your foot on the brake]Make shure to have the engine up to normal running temperature before you try this fix.the engine firing along with the brake pulled will release the sticking clutch plates. This will work!!!

My 2001 yamaha R6 motorcycle dies as soon as i let off the clutch, while gear is in neutral position. I've also tried putting it in 1st gear, then letting off an adding gas, but again, when the clutch is...

I wonder if maybe the kickstand switch is bad letting the bike think the kickstand is down. When you let out the clutch it shuts of the engine as if the kickstand is actually down.

It may be the kickstand switch is broken. Test to see does the switch work.

I have an 03 Honda 750 Shadow. I start the bike in nuetral and then put it in gear and it dies. It dies instantly.

Your kickstand switch is either broken or out of position. The bike kills the engine as a safety feature if it thinks the sidestand is down and the bike is put in gear while the engine is running.

Honda Shadow 600 c won't start in gear after battery change

The kickstand switch is either bad or bent out of position. See if you can activate the switch manually. Does the bike run now? If so, the switch is bent out of position. If it still won't run, jumper the wires together until you can replace the switch.
