You could try and adjust your shift lever. it sounds like you have a bent/worn out shifter fork. changing a shifter fork in the transmision is a lot of work.you have to remove the engine from the frame and split the cases.Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear but this should be done at a bike shop.

The neutral lite wont stay on , the foot lever is not allowing it to go to neutral

The neutral light won't stay on because the gearbox isn't in neutral. try rocking the bike backwards and forwards, kick the gears down as many time as you can (at least 6) and then try moving the gear lever up one until the bike moves freely backwards and forwards. Your bike should then start. It would be easier to identify any problems if you let us know the make and model of the bike.

I have a '96 YZF600R (Thundercat) that has an issue with the neutral light. When the bike's kickstand is down, the neutral light operates properly (not on when in gear) however as soon as you put the...

hi, the neutrol light operates on a live earth basis, the feed to the bulb is constantly live, the idea is when you place the bike into neutrol, the contact on the end of the gear selector drum aligns with the switch on the crankcase and presto makes contact completing the earth live circuit, poss problems include, faulty external switch,or (contact) inside gearbox, most likely traped wire inside front sprocket cover, going to earth check wireing, or the side stand switch faulty, or incorectly fitted poss wire from neutrol light has been conected to wrong wire.

My rm 80 1stand 2nd gear locks wheels

If your rear wheel is locked up in first and second gear with the engine running, this is not a good sign. Have you ever ran the bike without oil in the transmission? Every time I've seen this, the chain was thrown off the bike and it busted the cases. The oil leaked out of the cases and the transmission locks up. Generally, it locks in fifth gear but it could lock up in any or no gear.

Your problem sounds like something is wrong with the low gear-second gear "clutch gear". The clutch gear is gear that slides sideways on one of the transmission shafts to engage the proper gears. If the bike will roll when in neutral, these may be the only gears affected. If the bike will not roll when in neutral, your problem may be in countershaft. Either way, the transmission could be damaged.

Now, if you're talking about the rear wheel locking up if you try to push start the bike, this is because in low and second gear, there isn't enough mechanical advantage in the transmission to overcome the engine compression. Remember, you transferring torque through the transmission backwards when you try to push start the bike. Try starting the bike using third or fourth gear instead. Standing on the pegs and dropping onto the seat when you release the clutch helps.
