Have a look at the fule pipes from the fule tank if there slightly blocked the pump wont pull any fule through them pull the pipes off and blow them all out with comprest air (not the pump) you may have looked at the pump and it may look fine but the fule pump may still need an overhall to get it in full working order

1998 Suzuki Car ran out of gas. Still won't start is there a way to prime it.

the pump is fuel cooled and fuel lubricated.
lacking fuel it can wreck a good pump, if key is left on.
or cranked for long times, with no fuel
the operators guide warns all drivers of this fact.

make sure you have 12v to pump cranking
yes, the open (crack a fitting there) the fuel rail and crank, no fueL?
then bad pump.
if you see fuel that dont mean it can run like the OLDEN days carbs
it takes over 28PSI (or as the FSM STATES) pressure for injectors to even work.

No fuel getting to carbs

If you have a vacuum operated fuel petcock, it should also have a "prime" position. That should let the fuel flow without vacuum from the engine. If this solves your fuel starvation problem, I would double-check to see whether the the replacement petcock gasket(s) may have shifted just enough to block some little pinhole that's required for vacuum equalization. That has happened to me--the replacement gaskets aren't exactly the same as what was originally in there.
You can also test the vacuum release of the fuel petcock without taking anything apart. Put a mity-vac (a hand-pumped vacuum pump) on the vac line to the fuel petcock and see whether you can get the fuel to flow. Harbor Freight sells a cheap mity-vac type pump for under $20 when it goes on sale (which it does regularly).
Good luck!

I have a 1.8 1998 suzuki sport sidekick jlx. It failed emission testing. Replaced the mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, coils and spark plugs. The check engine light still comes on and it...

hi,
spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, or fuel pump might be getting ready to go. maybe a vacuum leak, hook it up to a vacuum gauge and see if the needle is steady, or take it to autozone and have them run a OBD test. I think its free at autozone.

check for correct routing of your fuel lines to the fuel pump and then check all the fuses its possible they might have blown.

Carburerettor Suzuki GS 750E

The GS bikes do have a fuel pump that is part of the petcock. This pump runs off of a vacuum line from the carbs. The carb bank is also made to run with the air-box in place. It will also not run right without the stock exhaust system in place. The engine would have to be re-jetted to properly run with a different exhaust system.
The engine will never run right without the air-box unless you get a vacuum gauge and properly tune the carb bank without it. Anyway, to fix your fuel pump problem, you may be able to install just the pump somehow, in between your tank and carburetor assembly.
You'll have to change several things to make this engine work as a go cart engine and be dependable.

Bike wont start after sitting for 6 months

Hi, first of all, open the bowl drains and drain all the old gas out of the four bowls. Tighten up the screws, find the main fuel line coming out of the fuel petcock on the gas tank. Pull this line off, and find a little funnel, or make one with a piece of paper or something. Slowly fill this line up until full, this will fill all the carbs up. Put the line back on, fire the bike up, let it run for awhile, should be ok. Your bike has a vacuum operated petcock, so it won't let gas thru unless there is vacuum to it, and it doesn't make much vacuum cranking over. I have took the vacuum line off of the petcock, and sucked on it long enough to get gas to get the bike fired up, but a vacuum pump would be better! lol
