I have power going to the coils but no spark out of the coils this is on a 1985 kaw ltd 454

If there is no spark coming from the coil, it could be the module on the side of the dist or the pickup coil inside the dist, or the coil.
The pickup tells the module when to ground the coil which makes the spark.
You may need a repair book or shop manual to get the testing procedures for each component.

Look at distributor, ignition coil, spark plugs and last but not least, wiring.

check the kill switch isnt damaged !

you have to remove the swing arm to remove the drive belt.

Swap the coils around the opposite they are now, 2 and 3 to the 1and 4 coil and vice versa. If now 2 or 3 act this way it's the coil, if it's still the 1 and 4 it's a grounding or plug or ignition module. I would start with the flip first and see what you learn. The coils are the same just split into two different firing signals. So that should tell you a lot

Try changing the bulb first, before looking for other issues. Usually a combination brake/tail light has 2 filaments in one bulb.

Did you check for spark at a plug wire or at the coil wire? Check at the coil wire,if there is spark there,the ign rotor is bad,very common to have the hot spark "drill" a hole thru the rotor to the dist shaft. Also check for play at the rotor shaft. Distruibtor bushings tend to go bad,making the trigger wheel hit the pickup coil,killing the spark.

hello check speedo cable, if not i belive these bikes speedos has small gears inside of speedometer, als check make sure cable is not broke on the ends
