I have a 2005 Honda VTX 1300 that will not start. It motor turns but won't fire. The lights work and are bright. The kill switch is off and there is gas in the tank. What could it be?

There is a safety switch on the kick stand of that bike that keeps it from running while in gear. It sounds like that switch is bad and killing the bike as soon as you put it in gear.

1st thing you need to do is see if the spark plugs have spark.Remove a spark plug,put the plug wire back on the plug, ground the spark plug to the engine ( lay on a bolt) turn bike on push start button check plug for spark.If it has spark then you have a fuel problem.Hope this help let me know what you find

sounds like a problem with the sidestand switch. look for the sensor located at the top of the sidestand,when up it pushes in a sensor.

This may be as simple as a failed kill switch?
I'd check it out.

if you are able to select gears without the motor stalling I doubt that your clutch is burned I would suspect that you may have sheared the output shaft in the gearbox this is a major job & without the correct tools & knowledge should be entrusted to a qualified technician

ok start with switchs kill switch,side stand switch, clutch switch. if the motor is spinning but won't fire clean or replace your plugs, when if tipped over it could have flooded the motor and fouled the plugs.

Check regulator...this powers all running light tail lights etc.

starter solenoid could be bad

You should check your side stand switch, this will kill the motor
