Your bike has a vacuum operated petcock. The vacuum diaphram inside the cover set has cracked and is allowing fuel to leak from the vent hole. Unfortunately, you cannot buy just the diaphram, you've got to buy the cover set (#5 in the picture below), P/N 16953-KEA-023, or replace the whole petcock assembly (item #2), P/N 16950-MEM-674.gas is dripping from the petcock fuel valve( cover - 278cd21.jpg

Me and another biker (Honda owners) just started having this leak as well. Mine is on a 2000 Magna 750. We started using Ethenol free gas about 3 months ago. Would that have any reason to make the diaphram fail? They both started leaking at almost the same time.

If there was a hole of any size in that area the gas would be doing way more than dripping. The valve works on a vacuum principle meaning it will only let gasoline flow when it is connected to the carburetor via the fuel line. Here are a few things you should check out:

First things first, check the fuel line coming off the petcock, the clamp may be loose or broken.

Second, check the valve itself, turn it from On to Off and from Off to Res then back to Off, see if the drip gets faster, slower or stops altogether.

Third, check the seating of the valve in the tank; is it tight, can you wiggle it with your hand? If so, it is loose and needs to be tightened which would stop the leak if that is where it's coming from.

Last resort is to pull the tank, empty it, pull the valve and replace it, but I think you may just have a loose valve or loose hose.

Fuel not flowing to carb.

Check you petcock for correct operation and make sure its not clogged. If its a vacuume actuated petcock, make sure the hose is attached well and not leaking. If all is well with those 2 things then try seeing if gas will flow when you remove the gas cap. If that fixes the problem, then the vent holes on your gas cap are clogged up.

VTX 1300R 07 ran out of gas and won't start, put fuel in it.

Does your bike have a petcock?

If so you have to prime the fuel bowls with gas by opening the pet **** for a minute until the fuel bowls are full of fuel THEN you set your choke if you have a manual choke THEN start the bike.

I have a 2005 Honda VTX 1300 that will not start. It motor turns but won't fire. The lights work and are bright. The kill switch is off and there is gas in the tank. What could it be?

Firstly, have you checked for spark?? Is there fuel to the carb?? Is the vacuum line to the fuel valve OK?? If the motor turns, then your kill switch is OK. Check the "basics" first then let us know what your results are and we can move forward

07 vtx 1300 leaking gas when bike is started

You need to pull the gas tank off and find out where it is leaking. I would say it is probaby something simple like a loose clamp on a fuel line.

Fuel petcock

The petcock is what the fuel flows through when it comes out of the gas tank. It probably includes: * A switch with positions for On, Off and Reserve. * A fuel line going to the carburetors. * A vacuum hose attachment which attaches to a carburetor which tugs on a rubber diaphram to let gas flow through. * An overflow/drip valve from the vacuum area. It's located right under the tank on the rear/left side.
