Check the positive side of the coil is has a 12 volt while the key is turn to the on position. Confirm this preferably with a multimeter instead of a test light. If 12 volt is present bench test the coil. Connect a spark plug to it using one of the wires, and connect the metal body of the spark plug to the negative side of the coil. Using a 12volt battery, connect the negative side to the negative side of the coil. Momentarilly apply 12 volts to the positive side. Voltage should be applied very quickly, and and disconnect right away, do not leave the battery connected for longer than a fraction of a second or you will burn up the coil!! Voltage should only be applied momentarilly as if you were trying to create a spark. The high voltage should be induced and cause the spark plugs to fire. Avoid touching any metalic part of the circuit while testing or you will get a nasty shock!! If the coil fires then the most likely cause of the problem is the module.

TEST COIL PACK TO SEE IF THAY ARE FIREING

on the straight six you will remove the bolt holding each coil to the valve cover. Remove one coil and use either a spark tester or a test light. If there is spark the coil is good. If there is no spark swap that coil with another. If the swapped coil fires than you know the circuit is good. If the coil that didn't fire still doesn't fire than you know the coil is bad.

I need a coil in #cylender but need to the fireing

If you are triing to find the bad coil simply run the truck and unplug each coil wire connection from each coil one at a time and change the one that dosn't change the way the engine is running. If you have coil over plug type ignition the firing order is controled by the computor and as long as you plug the coils in correctly no firing order is needed.

Miss-firing

Your firing order is 1-3-4-2. There are 2 ignition coils under the cover sitting on top of the engine. One coil fires cylinders 1 and 4. The other fires cylinders 2 and 3.
