Sounds like either you're drawing too much current in the brake light system or your alternator is not charging the battery fully.

On the brake light system, have you added additional lights or changed the type of bulbs in the lights. If so, you may have exceed the output of your charging system. I've seen people put so many lights on the back of their bikes that they've burned up alternator stators on a regular basis.

To check your charging system, put a battery charger on your battery and bring it to full charge. Then connect a digital multimeter to your battery, red lead to positive, black to negative, 50 volt scale. Start the engine and bring the idle speed up just a bit. After about a minute or so, the meter should read about 14.5 volts to 15.5 volts. Any higher or lower could indicate problems. If you find this, repost with that problem and I'll tell you how to check the alternator with your meter.

Overdrive switch is broken, brake is stuck, and car wont start, what can I do to fix it?

Well obviously if switch is broke, it'll need to be replaced.

Which brake is stuck? The E-brake or one of the brake calipers?

Check your cables over real good for corrosion from battery to starter. Just because lights work doesn't mean they're making good enough contact to spin the engine over.
Turn the lights on, then try to start the car, do the lights dim down or do they stay the same? if they dim real bad then it could be a bad ground, if they don't dim, it could be the starter or starter relay or a bad positive cable for the starter, you really need to get a volt meter and test for power.

Can not get my tail lights to work onk 1989 gmc truc

The front park lights work correct? If the front park lights work than there is not a problem with the light switch since the brown wire from the switch supplies power to the front park lights, front side markers, and the rear taillights. There should be twelve volts on the brown wire from the headlight switch with the connector plugged in and the park lights turned on. If this is true that there is a problem with the wiring to the back of the vehicle. A thorough inspection of the harness should reveal the problem. The dim break and blinkers support the above. High resistance also know as corrosion, in the wires or connections would cause this problem.

1989 pontiac GTA won't start just clicks, could it be a problem with the security system?

If it clicks then no.You need to check the battery and the charging system. If all your lights work and the headlights look nice and bright then check to see if you have power to the starter. If the clicks are coming from the starter what you can do is tap the starter with a hammer while someone is trying to start it with the key.If it starts then the starter is bad.If the lights are not bright but real dim then have the battery load tested or just try to jump it.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Front lights ( Dims ) come on when I press break pedal

Sure sounds like someone transposed the power leads from the brake peddle and the light switch - or the ground is bad - and a back feed of power is causing this.
I suggest pulling the Headlight fuse to determine if that feeds the head or brake lights. Same with the brake fuse.

Ground feed back is most likely and most difficult to identify. A bad connection to ground - somewhere - can do some weird things to lights.

Break Light is Dim When Breaks applied

you may have a bad ground where the ground wire attaches to the body. its a black wire and the connector is just below the trunk latch on the inside.

Dim light in instument panel at night on my 1989 corvette.

there could be a bad connection between your dimmer switch and the lights themselves. often times through vibration and wear and tear the connectors degrade. check this first. also the dimmer switch itself could be the cause.check all the connections associated with the panel lights, look for loose wires and/or bad connections if there are none replace the dimmer switch
