My motorcycle just pops out of 2nd gear. So often that I just skip the gear all together. I would like to fix this problem and don't know where to begin. Should I just replace the transmission or what? Thanks for the help.

I'd like to diagnostically figure out what the problem is before I spend any money, but just need a starting point. Coincidentally I found someone selling the guts for the transmission for $80... Should I jump on it or just wait until I know more?

You may find it cheaper to buy a used engine with a good gearbox and replace the engine as a whole.

you will find that the dogs are worn on the 2nd gear if you are confident that you can replace the gear transmission then if you find one that is not worn then buy it make sure you put all the washers in the correct place as you will get a problem put it in the same that it came out get a workshop manual.

I have Honda V65 magna motorcycle it pops out of second gear

The reason for that problem is damage to the drive dogs on the 2nd drive and driven gear.they have 90° edges on them and if they wear (usually from bad gear changes) they throw each other apart and shoot out to neutral in the case of 2nd.so there clarify to fix it you need to be able the engine out and split the cases to get the gearbox out and change the damaged gears.

Today while I was riding my 2001 Yamaha YZF-600R i noticed that in first gear ( could be others as well) when i hit around 7-8k RPM's it kinda skips. I don't really know how to describe it,but its...

Under the seat in front of the battery I'd a dmsll box with I think 6 wires, it's a rectifier box and when they heat up a wire melts, I just fixed another Yamaha that did the same thing u are describing and that's what the problem was

Bike jumps 2nd gear very noisy yamaha dt 175

Hello,
If the bike is jumping or skipping 2nd gear it probably has a bad shifter fork. In order to fix the problem you will need to take the transmission apart. I have seen rare case in which changing the weight oil can help, if the fork is not broken completely.

Good luck

I have a 2000 yamaha R6 that A. doesnt shift into 2nd gear at times and you cant skip it and go to third, it wont shift at all. and B. pops out of 1st and 2nd gear. what could that be?

The bike has a bent shift fork or two. This is a major repair on the bike. The engine comes out of the frame, gets flipped upside down then the bottom casing comes off. This allows access to the gears and shift drum / shift forks. I do not recommend this repair for a novice mechanic. Call a Yamaha dealer to confirm my diagnosis and to get an idea of the repair cost. The cost will probably be $1000 to $1500. Bummer. Please rate my answer.

3RD GEAR

Yes it is needing some sycronizers replaced probably and might also be needing a gear replaced in there. and also it will not hurt to keep driving it just skip shift like you have been so it doesnt cause any further problems .. if you keep using 3rd gear it might break off something in time just skip it .. thanks Jerry and holler if you need more.
