Can u replace a CDi box on a Suzuki 125 with Yamaha

CDI units are generally make and model specific. Some models share a common CDI but very rarely do makes share. So I think I would be right in saying the answer is no.

Can't Start 1981 Yamaha SR250

find a running sr 250 and swop his cdi unit with yours if the bike runs, fine. if not put his cdi back in and try again. if the good bike now starts it will indicate that your cdi is faulty. the cdi is located under the tank inside the frame. don't buy a second hand cdi unless you can test it on a working bike. they are very expensive and you don't want to buy a dud

My 16 year old son replaced a 1980s Yamaha motorcycle 175 but it will not start. Thinks maybe something is grounding out? What do you think?

Hi, is this a points ignition or cdi, does he have a spark at the plug? An engine needs three things to run, spark, fuel, and compression, was the engine from the same year and model, maybe the engine has cdi, and the bike is fitted with a points ignition setup?

Retro scooter cutting out and not starting

did you check the sparkplug? is the primary coil is good and still can deliver power?Your ignition coil is good?if all your answer is YES",then its time to check your CDI...
it is 99% the problem is in CDI..Replaced it..,But when your motorcycle is contact point operarted, then check the "timing",if you sure you set the right timing but it is still not firing, then replace the condenser.
You may also get rid to your ignition switch because sometimes there is the problem due to the stucked up of its component inside it at is grounded continously even the key has already turn into "on"mode.

No spark on 1998 Cagiva Canyon

did you check the primary coil? the ignition coil?if you think that these are all good, then you must replace the CDI.You cant test a CDI if this is good or not because it is a form of IC or integrated circuit, unless you have a manufacturer's diagram of it.You can check it by by detaching into its plug and get and replace an old CDI which you know is working, for example, get the CDI of the other motorcycle (if it has)the try to plug-in ,and if it fires, then thre you can surely know that the problem is on the CDI.

I have a 2002 Yamaha YZ250. While riding the bike engine died, could not start it since. Already changed sparkplug, cleaned carburator and airfilter. Does anyone have a solution or know where i can...

i think i can surely tell you that you need to replace your CDI.The CDI is an electronic system of your motorcycle to triger the sparkplug to burn the gasoline.but, due to it is an electronic device which composed of integrated circuit, there is a risk that this CDI will perform an unpredicted work becoz every electronic part have the risk of burning &malfunctioning when it heat.

No spark

Check the side stand kill switch if your bike has one. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. If broken or out of adjustment, it would kill the spark. Check for a broken wire at the side stand switch and coupler. Try moving the kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it. Check the fuses. How good is the battery? Try a jump start from your car battery. Is the handlebar kill switch on? Check the operation of the ignition switch and all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter. Install new spark plug.

If that doesn't do it, check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires? Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up? If no neutral light, check the neutral switch and neutral switch wire on center casing. If still no spark, get CDI system and coils checked at the dealers shop. You can screw up a CDI unit checking it yourself.
