Could be a bad starter push button,poor connection in wiring, bad safety switch.Need to track down with voltmeter if you can.
A good dealer may offer some help if you buy the parts needed from them.

I have a 2001 1500 Intruder and have had similar problems. I'm not sure what's going on, but I've been able to solve it by keeping it in gear and moving it back and forth, thinking it may be a compression problem. It works for me.

1999 Suzuki intruder VL-1500. Nothing from starter when ignition hit. Fuses checked.

Does it has an anti-theft system? All the hallmarks of what happens when you disconnect the battery. It may be a faulty switch, as they do wear out.

I have a 2001 Suzuki intruder 1500 I turn the key on and nothing happens no lights no start like battery is not there it has a fully charged battery
Check battery cable corrosion, clean tight connections. Check fuses. Unplug and replug every connector you can find.

Intruder won't start battery gets hot

My bike won't start, it is a 2000 1500 intruder suzuki, the starter was looked at by a professional and the starter is good. All lights work, battery is fully charged, the only way I can start my bike...
check you starter sol it is undre driver side fuel tank cover jump it across the two red and black wire with key on and see if it turn over if it start you will need to buy another one cost about 75.00

check your decompresson cables if they dont open the starter will drag rear cyclender is the problem on mine easy fix
