You have a bad head gasket. You are leaking coolant into the engine block through the cylinders. This is why you have white smoke, and the extra coolant that doesnt get burned off is going into your oil.

White smoke coming out of my 2005 bmw 320i e90, it mostly happens like a big cloud when on hills and only little on flat surfaces, mechanics can't seem to diagnose it nor I dunno if their being oblivious...

This could be two problems occuring, 1. Head Gasket leaking intermitantly (ie) Replace Head Gasket & skim head. 2. Replace the oil separation Valve or also known as Crank Case ventilation Valve.
This valve opens & closes, can be glued shut with carbon build up. Then when engine comes under load & elevated the oil from crank vent pipe can't escape but events in burning of as white smoke.

Working on a 1997 grand caravan 3.8L replaced the water pump replaced electric fans new thermostat did rad flush and and made sure there was no air pockets still over heats

White steam/smoke coming out exhaust, oil in radiator, coolant in oil, smell of exhaust coming out the radiator, spark plugs wet with coolant, a coolant pressure test would confirm bad head gasket.

Hi,my 1995 bmw 316i only blows cold air.even when the temp control is full at red it blows ice cold air, thanks.rod

check hot water is circulating through heater rad by feeling the inlet and outlet pipes as they come thru the bulkhead if ok it sounds like there is a control panel prob, if hot water isnt circulating make sure cooling system is bled properly, and you could try backflushing the system.

Bmw 1996 316i i have had the head gasket skimmed new gaskets on there is white smoke coming out of the exhust. and the oil in the head is like a carmel colour like cream but its not losing power or...

Hi,
Something is wrong with the head to engine connection. The white smoke is water burning from the sylinder(s) and the cream colored oil means you're getting water in the oil... this isn't good. You'll have to remove the head and re-assess this connection. Make sure the gasket is correct to all the water jacket ports and upon reinstallation, follow the correct torque sequence for the head.
I hope this helps, though it's not good news... sorry.

Bmw 318i

The car's engine is overheating !
Its not because you forgot to fit in the thermostat there could be other problem, like tht of the water pump, radiator clogged up, cooling fan.
You have to check them all.
Was there any problems before you pulle out tht cylinder head?

Backfiring, rough idel

I would check the exhaust pipe a little closewr. White smoke can also mean a blown head gasket. Check the tail pipe to see if moisture is present. Also check coolant level. A blown head gasket can also cause related problems.
